Pseudo transposition of the mandibular lateral incisor to the first premolar space: A literature review and case series.

Tooth transposition is the positional interchange of two adjacent teeth, which may be incomplete or complete. The root apex may remain in a normal position despite a severely displaced crown. The aim of this paper is to provide a literature review on the incidence, aetiology and treatment options for pseudo-transposed mandibular incisors.

Recognition, Intervention and Management of Digit Sucking: A Clinical Guide for the General Dental Practitioner.

Digit sucking is a common habit in young children, which if allowed to continue for a prolonged period, can adversely affect the development of the face and dental occlusion. Patients with digit sucking habits often present with an increased overjet, reduced overbite, anterior open bite, posterior crossbite and possible skeletal changes which can be challenging and costly to correct if the habit is not ceased in a timely manner. This article aims to provide guidance for general dental practitioners to recognise and appropriately manage patients with a digit sucking habit.

The impact of tooth agenesis on oral health-related quality of life in children.

Objective: The purpose of this cross-sectional survey was to evaluate the psychosocial impact of tooth agenesis in children and to investigate the potential influence of gender, socioeconomic status, severity of tooth absence, and the number of retained primary teeth on their quality of life.

Materials And Methods: A total of 86 children (36 male, 50 female) with tooth agenesis, aged 11-14 years were recruited from the Birmingham Dental Hospital, United Kingdom. Thirty subjects with a complete dentition and having a low treatment need acted as controls.

This article describes an unusual case where a rhinolith perforated the hard palate to appear in the mouth as an erupting tooth.

Clinical Relevance: It is useful for the general dental practitioner to be aware of the existence of foreign bodies, their sequelae and management.

Diagnostic ultrasound in the head and neck region.

Unlabelled: Improvements in ultrasound (US) resolution have led to the application of this non-ionizing imaging modality in the diagnosis of soft tissue disorders affecting the head and neck region. Although operator experience is paramount in image interpretation, US has the advantage of being inexpensive, safe and widely available. Ultrasound is the first line imaging modality for suspected salivary gland tumours and is useful in evaluating superficial neck swellings, such as lymph node disease, soft tissue cysts and vascular malformations.

Kikuchi disease: an unusual cause of cervical lymphadenopathy in an Afro-Caribbean woman.

Cervical lymphadenopathy is often seen in maxillofacial surgery departments and many common causes have been identified. We discuss an unusual case of cervical lymphadenopathy and weight loss in an Afro-Caribbean patient.
