The course of pregnancy, labors and the status of neonates from 104 mothers working in the setting exposed to increased industrial noise were analyzed. The noise was found to have a negative impact on the health of women and their neonates. Small intestinal saccharose deficiency was detected in the newborn.

Hydrolysis and absorption of sugars in the intestine were studied in 268 newborns at the background of antibacterial therapy of pneumonia and acute respiratory infections. It was shown that penicillins and cephalosporins induced impairment of lactose and sucrose hydrolysis followed by the development of persisting dyspepsia. The antibiotics also promoted the development of the syndrome of the malabsorption of monosugars.
