Introduction: Visualization of scoliosis typically requires ionizing radiation (radiography and CT) to visualize bony anatomy. MRI is often additionally performed to screen for neural axis abnormalities. We propose a 14-minutes radiation-free scoliosis-specific MRI protocol, which combines MRI and MRI-based synthetic CT images to visualize soft and osseous structures in one examination.

The generation of subject-specific finite element models of the spine is generally a time-consuming process based on computed tomography (CT) images, where scanning exposes subjects to harmful radiation. In this study, a method is presented for the automatic generation of spine finite element models using images from a single magnetic resonance (MR) sequence. The thoracic and lumbar spine of eight adult volunteers was imaged using a 3D multi-echo-gradient-echo sagittal MR sequence.

The purpose of the study - the establishment of serological prevalence of Herpes simplex 1 (HSV-1) и Herpes simplex 2 (HSV-2) in male and female prisoners as well as the analysis of separate psychosocial aspects of the spread of the infection in prisons in Ukraine. Herpes simplex virus markers, specifically class M and G immunoglobulins (IgM and IgG), have been identified (HSV-1 и HSV-2 in the blood serum in 80 prisoners from the prisons in Ukraine (40 men, average age 38.2 years and 40 women, average age 35.

Objective: The aim: Determine the clinical and anamnestic criteria that cause the аcantholytic pemphigus (AP) morbidity in the course of the treatment.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: Analysis of medical histories of patients who underwent the therapy on the basis of the clinic for 10 years. In the analysis of 174 medical case histories were determined the factors provoking the onset and exacerbation of the disease.

The scientific and practical significance of the problem of urogenital trichomoniasis is determined by the prevalence and variability of the pathogen. It is assumed that under adverse conditions, these protozoa lose the ability to move intensively and undergo morphological transformation. The existence of such a problem generates the scientific and practical interest in the matter of improvement of bacteriological methods of diagnosis when examining patients with chronic inflammatory processes of the urogenital tract.

The study aimed to assess a negative impact of an acquired single-sided deafness on quality of life of the elderly. Prospective analysis of outpatient records was carried out to identify elderly patients with single-sided deafness using pure tone audiometry. The main inclusion criteria were age over 60, ≥90 dB threshold of an affected ear, ≤30 dB threshold of an intact ear, an acquired single-sided hearing loss with sudden onset and deafness duration less than 5 years.

In the presence of numerous trigger factors contributing to the exposure of allergodermathosis, there is significant heterogeneity in the phenotypic manifestations of the disease, the severity of its course, as well as the co-morbidity and response to therapy. Objective - to assess the possibility of predicting the severity of allergodermathosis complicated by staphylococcal infection, taking into account the patients' clinical and medical history, bacteriological and immunological indicators. The study included 252 patients with allergodermathosis (95 with atopic dermatitis (AD) and 157 with true eczema (TE)), who were admitted for treatment to the Department of Dermatology of the SE "Institute of Dermatology and Venerology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" in 2016 - 2019.

Objective: The aim was to perform systematic review of genitourinary protozoan invasion and analyze their pathogenicity and the ability to influence the genitourinary infections.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: For systematic review of papers the EMBASE and PubMed databases were searched. We also reviewed our own pilot studies using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis and Giardia lamblia.

The development of atopic dermatitis (AD) is often associated with the presence of pathogenic microflora in the skin's biotope against the background of acute immunological disorders of the microorganism. In this case, the leading role is played by Staphylococcus aureus, which is seeded in 80-95% of patients diagnosed with AD. The clinical significance of the pathogen is determined by its ability to actively survive in the biotope, aided by a wide range of pathogenicity factors of this microorganism.

Purpose: To demonstrate feasibility of transceive phase mapping with the PLANET method and its application for conductivity reconstruction in the brain.

Methods: Accuracy and precision of transceive phase (ϕ ) estimation with PLANET, an ellipse fitting approach to phase-cycled balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) data, were assessed with simulations and measurements and compared to standard bSSFP. Measurements were conducted on a homogeneous phantom and in the brain of healthy volunteers at 3 tesla.

In this work, we present a new method for visualization of fiducial markers (FMs) in the prostate for MRI-only radiotherapy with a positive contrast directly at the MR console. The method is based on high bandwidth phase-cycled balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) sequence, which is available on many clinical scanners, does not require any additional post-processing or software, and has a higher signal-to-noise (SNR) compared to conventional gradient-echo (GE) imaging. Complex phase-cycled bSSFP data is acquired with different RF phase increment settings such that the manifestation of the artifacts around FMs in the acquired complex images is different for each dynamic acquisition and depends on the RF phase increment used.

Purpose: The PLANET method was designed to simultaneously reconstruct maps of T and T , the off-resonance, the RF phase, and the banding free signal magnitude. The method requires a stationary B field over the course of a phase-cycled balanced SSFP acquisition. In this work we investigated the influence of B drift on the performance of the PLANET method for single-component and two-component signal models, and we propose a strategy for drift correction.

Objective: Introduction: The paper presents the results of investigations of the skin's barrier function in patients diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (AD) with the presence of one of the genetic predispositions, namely the filaggrin gene FLG 2284del4 mutation. The aim: to deepen the study of the relationship between the mutations of the gene FLG del2282 and the morphological features of the skin, since the data on its physiological state in patients diagnosed with AD are contradictory that will contribute to the improvement of the modern basis necessary for the development of treatment-diagnostic and preventive measures.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: In the given study of patients diagnosed with AD (41 person), the frequency of the FLG 2282del4 gene deletion constituted 19.

Purpose: In this work we demonstrate how sequence parameter settings influence the accuracy and precision in T , T , and off-resonance maps obtained with the PLANET method for a single-component signal model. In addition, the performance of the method for the particular case of a two-component relaxation model for white matter tissue was assessed.

Methods: Numerical simulations were performed to investigate the influence of sequence parameter settings on the accuracy and precision in the estimated parameters for a single-component model, as well as for a two-component white matter model.

Purpose: To demonstrate the feasibility of a novel, ellipse fitting approach, named PLANET, for simultaneous estimation of relaxation times T and T from a single 3D phase-cycled balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) sequence.

Methods: A method is presented in which the elliptical signal model is used to describe the phase-cycled bSSFP steady-state signal. The fitting of the model to the acquired data is reformulated into a linear convex problem, which is solved directly by a linear least squares method, specific to ellipses.
