Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of transarticular screws versus a fiber tape construct for treating ligamentous Lisfranc injuries, noting ongoing debates about the best fixation method.
  • A controlled lab setting was used, comparing fixation methods on cadaver specimens to assess joint stability under various loads.
  • Results showed no significant differences in joint separation between the two methods during testing, with the fiber tape construct displaying fewer failures at higher loads.

Article Synopsis
  • Osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) may need advanced imaging techniques like MRI and CT when initial treatments fail, as conventional evaluation methods can lead to misjudgment of lesion size.
  • A study analyzed the accuracy of MRI compared to CT for measuring true volumes of OLTs, finding that conventional volume assessments overestimated the lesions significantly (by 285-864% for CT and 56-374% for MRI).
  • Results indicated that 3D true-volume analysis yields more accurate size measurements, with thin slice CT being preferable over MRI for better assessments in cases requiring revision surgery.

Glenohumeral joint dislocation is common among younger, active patients. Anterior dislocation is the most common direction of instability following a traumatic event. Due to a high rate of recurrence following primary traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation, an evidence-based approach is necessary to determine the best treatment regime for a patient presenting with this problem.
