Impact of the Sequence of Norepinephrine and Vasopressin Discontinuation in Patients Recovering From Septic Shock.

Septic shock is a serious medical condition affecting millions of people each year and guidelines direct vasopressor use in these patients. However, there is little information as to which vasopressor should be discontinued first. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of the sequence of norepinephrine and vasopressin discontinuation on intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay.

Prophylactic ketoconazole shampoo for tinea capitis in a high-risk pediatric population.

Objectives: Although topical agents for the treatment of tinea capitis decrease viable fungal elements and reduce shedding, their use as a prophylactic agent has not been investigated. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a prophylactic ketoconazole shampoo (Nizoral 2%) protocol to reduce the number of clinically evident tinea capitis infections in a high-risk African American, urban population.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of a ketoconazole prophylaxis protocol that was implemented at an urban pediatric clinic for medically fragile children.
