A reusable and low-cost radiochromic dosimeter containing a gel matrix of polyvinyl alcohol, potassium iodide dye, froctose as reducing agent and glutaraldehyde as cross-linking agent was developed for dose calibration in radiotherapy. The gel samples were exposed to different absorbed doses using a medical linear acceleration.

The nicotinic receptor gene cluster on chromosome 15 has a plausible association with SUD, particularly with nicotine dependence.
Methods: This study investigated 15 SNPs within the CHRNA5, CHRNA3, and CHRNB4 genes.
This paper studies and analyses the characteristics of cold field electron emission from uncoated polycrystalline tungsten tips before and after being coated with an insulating polystyrene layer of different thicknesses. The process of testing the samples has been carried out under high vacuum conditions (10 mbar). Uncoated tungsten tips were prepared using the electrochemical etching process.

The dosimeter was exposed to doses of up to 10 Gy with radiation beam-energy of 10 MV and dose-rates of 300 cGy/min. The relaxation rate (R) parameter was utilized to explore the performance of irradiated NHMAGAT gels.

By varying some values of the fractional-order derivative together with some parameter values of the proposed system, different dynamical behaviors of the system are explored and discussed via several numerical simulations. This system displays complex hidden dynamics such as inversion property, chaotic bursting oscillation, multistabilty, and coexisting attractors.

Objective: Phenolic substances anthocyanidins, anthocyanins, flavanols, flavones and isoflavones, flavones, flavonols, etc. - are extremely interesting as flavor additives, anti-aging or maturing agents, and color and aroma enhancers.
Faecal disimpaction is very important for successful management of the constipation in children. Lactulose is cheap and widely available medicine compared to other polyethylene glycol (PEG) preparations. From our experience, lactulose is effective and safe medicine for both disimpaction and maintenance therapy in constipated children.

In spite of considerable research and efforts that have been recently deployed for improving the performance of multiple sequence alignment (MSA) algorithms, finding a highly accurate alignment between multiple protein sequences is still a challenging problem.
Results: We propose a novel and efficient algorithm called, MSAIndelFR, for multiple sequence alignment using the information on the predicted locations of IndelFRs and the computed average log-loss values obtained from IndelFR predictors, each of which is designed for a different protein fold.
Protein chains are generally long and consist of multiple domains. Domains are distinct structural units of a protein that can evolve and function independently. The accurate and reliable prediction of protein domain linkers and boundaries is often considered to be the initial step of protein tertiary structure and function predictions.

Further, many of the human diseases and functional divergence between homologous proteins are more related to indel mutations, even though they occur less often than the substitution mutations do. A reliable identification of indels and their flanking regions is a major challenge in research related to protein evolution, structures and functions.

The resulting loose, black powders are convenient materials for chemical reduction of organic compounds and the production of clean hydrogen. The problem addressed in this paper is the nature of the reducing species present in these amorphous materials.

In the present work, we investigate the mercury-binding mechanism for representative thiol-functionalized mesostructures by atomic pair distribution function (PDF) analysis of synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data and by Raman spectroscopy.
