Magnesium (Mg) shows excellent potential for orthopedic implant applications owing to its equivalent mechanical properties compared to cortical bone and its biocompatibility. However, the rapid degradation rate of magnesium and its alloys in the physiological environment results in losing their mechanical integrity before complete bone healing. In light of this, friction stir processing (FSP), a solid-state process, is used to fabricate Hopeite (Zn(PO).
