Nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) disease resistance genes typically confer resistance against races of a single pathogen. Here, we report that Yr87/Lr85, an NLR gene from Aegilops sharonensis and Aegilops longissima, confers resistance against both P. striiformis tritici (Pst) and Puccinia triticina (Pt) that cause stripe and leaf rust, respectively.

Objectives: Adolescents with juvenile-onset autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRDs) could be at risk for disease flare secondary to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection or to withholding anti-inflammatory therapy. While vaccination can protect against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), safety and immunogenicity data regarding anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines among adolescents with AIIRDs are limited. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is widely used to treat drug-resistant epilepsy and depression. While the precise mechanisms mediating its long-term therapeutic effects are not fully resolved, they likely involve locus coeruleus (LC) stimulation via the nucleus of the solitary tract, which receives afferent vagal inputs. In rats, VNS elevates LC firing and forebrain noradrenaline levels, whereas LC lesions suppress VNS therapeutic efficacy.

Magnetoresistance measurements in a granular Nb nanoring reveal current-induced crossover between two distinct quantum coherence effects. At low bias currents, Cooper-pair coherence is manifested by Little-Parks oscillations with flux periodicity of h/2 e. At high bias currents, magnetoresistance oscillations with flux periods of h/ e are observed and interpreted as Aharonov-Bohm oscillations, reflecting the phase coherence of individual quasi-particles.

To further investigate the interaction between vitamin D system and estrogen-mimetic compounds in the human vasculature we studied the effect of the "less- calcemic" analog of 1,25(OH)D (1,25D); JK 1624F-2 (JKF) in the presence of selective estrogen modulator femarelle (F), the phytoestrogen daidzein (D) and estradiol-17b (E) on [H] thymidine incorporation (DNA synthesis) and creatine kinase specific activity (CK) in human umbilical artery vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). F, D and E, stimulated DNA synthesis at low concentrations, and inhibited it at high concentrations. All estrogen-related compounds increased CK dose- dependently.
