Background And Objectives: Randomized clinical trials have shown that sub-lobar resection for clinical stage (cStage) IA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is non-inferior to lobar resection. We evaluated traditional and conditional survival differences between lobectomy, wedge resection, and segmentectomy in patients with cStage IA NSCLC.

Methods: The National Cancer Database (2004-2019) was queried for patients with cStage IA (≤ 2 cm) NSCLC who underwent upfront lobectomy, segmentectomy, or wedge resection.

Purpose: Chemotherapy in combination with trastuzumab is the standard neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer (BC). Assessing the regimens administered to patients with HER2-positive BC in the real world is lacking. We evaluated neoadjuvant and adjuvant regimen patterns among HER2-positive BC patients (2007 to 2021) identified in a health insurance claims database.

The impact of sex on non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remains uncertain and current evidence is conflicting. To address this uncertainty, we conducted an integrative analysis using Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER)-Medicare and UROMOL data sets to explore sex disparities in NMIBC oncological outcomes. In the SEER-Medicare cohort, females had lower risks of recurrence and progression in comparison to males, but no significant difference in BC-specific mortality was observed.

Introduction: Biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARD) are often discontinued when a patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is diagnosed with cancer. Our aim was to determine trends in bDMARD utilization in patients with RA and recently diagnosed cancer.

Method: We examined two national claims databases to identify adults with RA and recently diagnosed colorectal, lung, or prostate cancer (Optum's de-identified Clinformatics® Data Mart Database 2008-2022, and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Medicare-linked 2008-2017).

Background: Ovarian cancer is associated with delayed diagnosis and poor survival; thus, interest is high in identifying predictive and prognostic biomarkers and novel therapeutic agents. Although the costs of ovarian cancer care are likely to increase as newer, more effective, but more expensive treatment regimens become available, information on the current costs of care for ovarian cancer-across the care continuum from diagnosis to the end of life-are lacking.

Objective: This study aimed to estimate real-world mean and median costs of ovarian cancer care within the first 5 years after diagnosis by patients' phase of care, age, race/ethnicity, and geographic region.

Background: There have been concerns about the use of tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) for autoimmune disease in patients with recently diagnosed cancer. We assessed the survival of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and newly diagnosed early breast cancer (BC) treated with TNFi in the first two years after BC diagnosis.

Methods: We identified patients in two datasets: (1) Optum's de-identified Clinformatics Data Mart Database (CDM), (2) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program (SEER) and Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) Medicare-linked cohort.

Background: Epidemiological and mechanistic data support a potential causal link between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer. Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) represent a common form of CVD with at least partially distinct genetic and biologic pathogenesis from other forms of CVD. The risk of cancer and how this risk differs compared with other forms of CVD, is unknown among AAA patients.

Some antihypertensive medications are photosensitizing. The implications for skin cancer risk remain unclear because results from prior studies are inconsistent and as new evidence is published. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the association between antihypertensives and common skin cancers (cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and melanoma) and to evaluate dose-response relationships.
