Inverted papilloma: a clinico-pathological dilemma with special reference to recurrence and malignant transformation.

To study the clinicopathological profile, recurrence and malignant potential of the inverted papilloma of nose and paranasal sinuses in relation to the definitive diagnosis and the management undertaken. A total number of 52 cases of histologically proven inverted papilloma managed in our department of otolaryngology over a 10-year period (May 1998-April 2008) were followed up (until October 2009) and the results were analyzed retrospectively to find out any incidence of recurrence of these tumours. A total of 52 inverted papilloma cases were managed with different surgical interventions.

Malignant melanoma of vagina--a case report.

Malignant melanoma of vagina called mucosal lentigenous melanomas are extremely malignant. Malignant malanoma is a very rare tumour, it accounts for less than 3% of malignant tumours of vagina. Vaginal malanomas are aggressive and according to some authors they are less suitable for radical excision.

Primary pleomorphic sarcoma of the ovary with rhabdomyosarcomatous differentiation.

A 49-year-old patient presented with a right ovarian mass, which, on microscopy, showed to consist of haphazardly oriented large pleomorphic cells with abundant cytoplasm. Periodic acid Schiff stain was positive but negative with diastase digestion. Immunohistochemical staining with Desmin showed intense cytoplasmic positivity in almost all the cells.

Expression of cytokeratins in gliomas.

Metastatic carcinoma, which is a common malignant tumor seen in the central nervous system is often difficult to distinguish from glioblastoma multiforme. In general, neoplastic cells maintain fidelity in the expression of parent cell intermediate filament and immunohistochemistry remains the mainstay in diagnosis. A panel consisting of GFAP (usually positive for astrocytic tumors) and cytokeratin (usually positive for metastatic carcinomas) is most commonly used for this purpose.

Infantile hemangioendothelioma of liver: report of two cases.

Infantile hemangioendothelioma, the commonest mesenchymal tumour of liver in infancy, though benign in nature, may behave aggressively. Here reports of two such cases are presented. Both were girls and less than 1-year old.
