Exploring the role of vault complex in the nervous system: a literature review.

Vault RNAs (vtRNAs) are a novel group of non-coding RNAs that are involved in various signaling mechanisms. vtRNAs are joined by three proteins major vault protein (MVP), vault poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (VPARP), and telomerase-associated protein 1 (TEP1) to form the vault complex. In humans, only four vtRNA including vtRNA 1-1, vtRNA 1-2, vtRNA 1-3, vtRNA 2-1) have been discovered.

Bupropion (Bup), an antidepressant, is used to treat depression and aid in quitting smoking. We aim to investigate the influence of Bup on nicotine withdrawal (NW)-associated disturbances in serotonergic neurotransmission and behavior in mice. Adult albino mice were categorized into control and NW groups.

Method: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 service users experiencing a FEP to understand their experience of expressed emotion (EE) from their caregivers. Interviews were analysed using inductive thematic analysis.

The present study aimed to investigate incidence, risk factors, and causative organisms of nosocomial infection in burn patients of Khulna, Bangladesh. This cross-sectional study was conducted among patients admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) from January to December 2020.

Background Modern contraception plays a vital role in family planning and preventing unintended pregnancies. However, its uptake remains limited in many developing countries, including Pakistan. Objectives: This study assessed the oral health disease burden among people with multimorbidity in marginalized populations.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted across 16 locations in the slums of Karachi, Pakistan, to assess oral health disease problems among adults aged 18 to 70 with comorbidity or multimorbidity.

Compositional profiling and bioefficacy studies of pulses-supplemented isocaloric designer biscuits for recently diagnosed diabetic individuals.

This study addresses global concerns about diabetes mellitus by exploring a novel approach to manage hyperglycemia through pulses-supplemented designer biscuits. Control and designer biscuits were prepared with varying proportions of wheat flour and pulses (chickpea, mungbean). The pulses-supplemented biscuits exhibited increased protein content and reduced readily available carbohydrates.

The impact of heat treatment of bovine milk on gastric emptying and nutrient appearance in peripheral circulation in healthy females: a randomized controlled trial comparing pasteurized and ultra-high temperature milk.

Background: Heat treatments of dairy, including pasteurization and ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing, alter milk macromolecular structures, and ultimately affect digestion. In vitro, animal, and human studies show faster nutrient release or circulating appearance after consuming UHT milk (UHT-M) compared with pasteurized milk (PAST-M), with a faster gastric emptying (GE) rate proposed as a possible mechanism.

Objectives: To investigate the impact of milk heat treatment on GE as a mechanism of faster nutrient appearance in blood.

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of cardiometabolic risk factors which increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of MetS among adolescents living in slums aged 11-18 years in Karachi, Pakistan.

Methods: Data were collected from 689 adolescents attending five schools in two slum areas of Karachi, Korangi and Baldia, from February 2023 to March 2023.

Cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) is a prevalent congenital craniofacial abnormality that can lead to difficulties in eating, speaking, hearing, and psychological distress.
