The effects of algin-based drugs--algipor, algimaf, teralgim--on the course of maxillofacial purulent wounds healing were under study. Cytologic and morphometric data and findings of pH measurements evidence a high efficacy of teralgim and of algipor and algimaf combinations with trypsin immobilized on a cloth base during the first phase of the wound process. Application of these drugs was conducive to a sooner wound purification and to stimulation of the reparative processes.

The authors have perfected the method of determining the firmness of elastic biological tissues. The values of firmness of the cartilaginous and spongy tissues in radial directions and in normal planes have been studied including the directions that coincided with the action of the resultant force on the femoral head. It is possible to make a conclusion that areas possessing equal firmness are situated at the same distance from the centre of the joint, while the higher firmness areas alternate with the spherical lower firmness areas.

The authors present the results of their studies of distribution of pressure on the articular surfaces of the hip joint with regard to the value of the angle between the femoral neck and the diaphysis and the state of the cartilaginous coat. The regularity of distribution of pressure was studied on a real model of the hip joint by means of tensometry and ichnography. It was established that the region of maximum pressure was most frequently affected by degenerative dystrophic process, and the epicenter of pressure on the femoral head surface was shifted due to an increased or decreased angle between the femoral neck and the diaphysis directed laterally or medially as compared with the normal state.
