This work focused on the preparation of novel antifouling paint based on CaCrO and CaMnO NPs as a safe protective pigment which were replaced with cuprous oxide. Three paint formulations were prepared for comparison, a blank formula without an antifouling agent (F1), a commercial antifouling formula based on 100% cuprous oxide as an antifouling agent (F2), and AF formula based on 75% CaCrO and CaMnO NPs and 25% CuO. The high performance and durability of the paints based on the prepared pigments were evident from their impact resistance, adhesion, pending, hardness, and chemical resistance, which were compared to the blank formula (F1).

The current work reports the synthesis of Cr(iii), Mn(ii), Co(ii), Ni(ii) and Cu(ii) chelates of the Schiff base ligand named hydroxy-phenyl-acetic acid (2-hydroxy-naphthalen-1-ylmethylene)-hydrazide with multi-chelation centre toward metal ions. The spectral tools, H-NMR, FTIR, mass, UV-vis spectra, and the analytical elemental and thermal analysis, in addition to magnetic moment and conductivity measurements all combined have been applied to conclude the structure and geometry of the synthesized metal complexes. The formed metal chelates have been assured to be formed with the molar compositions of 1 L : 1 M for PANH-Cr, PANH-Mn, PANH-Co, PANH-Ni and 2 L : 1 M for PANH-Cu.

The purpose of this systematic review was to compare the effectiveness of stabilisation splint (SS) with other conservative treatment modalities in the management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). An electronic search in PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane was conducted to find randomised control trials published on the management of temporomandibular disorders in English language from March 2000 to June 2023 along with manual search in the relevant Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, the American Journal of Prosthodontics, and the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. A total of 64 studies were initially considered, out of which eight studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria.

Cold tumors lack antitumor immunity and are resistant to therapy, representing a major challenge in cancer medicine. Because of the immunosuppressive spirit of the tumor microenvironment (TME), this form of tumor has a low response to immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and also chemotherapy. Cold tumors have low infiltration of immune cells and a high expression of co-inhibitory molecules, such as immune checkpoints and immunosuppressive molecules.

The present article describes the muscle relaxant and antipyretic effects of pentacyclic triterpenes, oleanolic acid (), ursolic acid () and betulinic acid () isolated from roots of in animal models. The muscle relaxant effects of isolated pentacyclic triterpenes were determined by chimney and inclined plane tests. In the chimney test, pretreatment of pentacyclic triterpenes evoked significant dose dependent influence on muscle coordination.

In this study, phenol formaldehyde-montmorillonite (PF-MMT) was prepared and used for lead ion (Pb) adsorption. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to determine the optimal conditions. The calculated adsorption equilibrium () revealed that pseudo-second-order (PSO) and Langmuir isotherm models best fit the experimental data, suggesting chemisorption as the main mechanism.

Prevalence of parasitic skin diseases, cutaneous leishmaniasis is very frequent in Pakistan, especially in Baluchistan where occurrence of phelbotomine sand flies (vector of protozoan parasite of genus Leishmania) is very common. This study was conducted to assess the antileishmaniasis activity of Intericutol plus ointment (2% and 3%) made with ethanolic extract of bark and leaves of Holoptelea integrifolia (Roxb.)Planch.

Article Synopsis
  • Monitoring electricity usage through non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) can significantly cut power consumption by identifying individual device use from overall energy measurements.
  • A new NILM technique called CRuST utilizes six unique current waveform features and a rule-based set theory approach for better load identification, involving stages like event detection, signal preprocessing, and feature extraction.
  • The CRuST NILM technique demonstrated over 96% accuracy in identifying loads and outperformed traditional models, making it a promising solution for efficient load monitoring.

The most prevalent reason for IGBT failure in voltage-source inverter (VSI) is thermal stress, which is influenced by the topology and modulation technique adopted. Hence, it is crucial to understand the impact of common sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PWM) strategies on the thermal behavior of VSI and develop improved PWM techniques. This paper presents an alternate hybrid PWM (AHPWM) switching sequence for a single-phase VSI to decrease its thermal stress and prolong its lifetime.

Nano materials are utilized to improve the performance of some pharmaceuticals and materials, as well as to lessen the collateral damage they cause. The purpose of this study was to look at the effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) produced by bacteria on some trophozoites of intestinal parasites. The silver nanoparticles were synthesized using Bacillus cereus (BAgNPs) and Chromobacterium violaceum (ChAgNPs) bacteria.

Infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria are major health concerns worldwide. We successfully synthesized cephradine gold nanoparticles (Ceph-Au NPs) and cephradine silver nanoparticles (Ceph-Ag NPs) and compared their efficacy against resistant human pathogens. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) results showed that average particle size of Ceph-Au NPs and Ceph-Ag NPs were 7 and 12 nm, respectively.

The new adsorbent was prepared by mixing cellulose with dicyclohexyl-18- crown-6 via microwave irradiation method and it was used to remove lead ions from aqueous solution. In contrast to the traditional way (in which grafted polymers are produced by using chemical-free radical producers), this method is rapid, reproducible, and gives a high-quality product. Different physicochemical techniques such as FTIR, SEM, and XRD and TGA were used for the characterization of the produced adsorbent.

Patients with Alagille syndrome carry monogenic mutations in the Notch signaling pathway and face complications such as jaundice and cholestasis. Given the presence of intrahepatic ductopenia in these patients, Notch2 receptor signaling is implicated in driving normal biliary development and downstream branching morphogenesis. As a result, in vitro model systems of liver epithelium are needed to further mechanistic insight of biliary tissue assembly.
