The genetic characteristics are key risk factors of development of many human neoplasms including B-cell tumors of lymphatic system. The relationship between polymorphic variants of genes FCGR2A (His 1 66Agr), CD14 (C-159T). IL1β (T-31C), IL2 (7:330G) and 7LR2 (Arg753Ghn) and development of various forms of B-cell tumors of lymphatic system in 80 patients was investigated.

Aim: To assess efficacy of vaccine against viral hepatitis B (VHB) in adults after achievement of acute leukemia (AL) remission.

Material And Methods: Specific prevention of VHB was made in 30 AL patients with recombinant vaccine Engerix B by two schemes: 0-1-2-12 and 0-1-2-6 months with double adult dose 40 mcg. Efficacy of vaccination was evaluated by the titer of antibodies to HBs-Ag (HBs-Ab) 1 month after each injection of the vaccine.

Immune status in relation to tumor progression was evaluated in 175 patients with chronic myeloproliferative diseases. 113 of them had chronic myeloid leukemia, 62 chronic subleukemic myelosis. It was established that immunologic reactivity decline correlated with the rate of tumor progression.

To assess the role of polyamines in the mechanism of immunosuppression in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), polyamines levels were measured in the urine and blood, polyamines reactivity was investigated in 113 CML patients in correlation with the process aggression. In patients with aggressive CML (23 subjects) and large tumor mass the above concentrations were significantly higher than in patients with less severe CML run (90 subjects). There were also parallels between polyamines concentrations in the biological media and the patient's immunoreactivity.

The authors have searched for immunological and biochemical criteria for differential diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia and idiopathic myelofibrosis. Some features of functional activity of cells as well as the content of circulating immune complexes and polyamines characteristic for each of these disease have been revealed.

Proliferative activity of myeloblasts as well as the content of possible regulators of hemopoiesis--polyamines and medium-molecular peptides were investigated in the time course of chronic myeloid leukemia. It has been noted that their levels correlate with the leukemic process progressing, and with the response to the chemotherapy conducted.

The features of nonspecific defense factors were studied in 42 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and in 18--with chronic subleukemic myelosis (CSM), in the presence of the treatment including polychemotherapy and plasmocytapheresis. Significant changes have been detected in the humoral factors of nonspecific defense (lysozyme, beta-lysins, complement components), as well as in the cellular component (phagocytic activity of the cells) in CML patients, these changes were growing with the leukemic process progressing. Plasmocytapheresis conducted produced no appreciable effect on the parameters of nonspecific resistance in the patients.
