Background: The tumour microenvironment significantly influences the clinical response of patients to therapeutic immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI), but a comprehensive understanding of the underlying immune-regulatory proteome is still lacking.
Objectives: To decipher targetable biologic processes that determine tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TiLs) as a cellular equivalent of clinical response to ICI.
Methods: We mapped the spatial distribution of proteins in TiL-enriched vs.
Background: Early posttransplant cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in CMV seronegative solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) with CMV seronegative donors (D-/R-) are often attributed transfusion-transmitted CMV. The prevalence of false-negative donor CMV serology in D-/R- SOTR with early CMV infections has not been explored.
Methods: We determined the frequency and characteristics of CMV DNAemia that occurred within 90 days of transplant among adult SOTR classified as D-/R- who underwent a first SOT at a single center between February 25, 2014 and February 25, 2024.

PheWAS is an analysis method to study phenotype associations utilizing longitudinal electronic health record (EHR) data. Previous PheWAS packages were developed mostly with smaller data sets and with earlier PheWAS approaches.

Materials And Methods: This randomised intervention and observational study included 94 participants, 24 (23; 25) years, receiving an instruction-video with (group 1) or without additional hands-on instruction (group 2). The flossing performance was assessed by videotaping before instruction (T1), after instruction and one week of practice (T2), as well as after two weeks of practice (T3).
Introduction: Hydroxyapatite (HAP) is promoted as biomimetic material in dentistry. The aim of the study was to investigate whether HAP-containing formulations can reduce erosive/abrasive tissue loss and to analyse components in these formulations.
Methods: Two HAP toothpastes with and two without fluoride and a HAP mouthrinse were investigated, controls were active agent-free toothpaste, SnF2 toothpaste and F/Sn mouthrinse.
In perovskite oxide heterostructures, bulk functional properties coexist with emergent physical phenomena at epitaxial interfaces. Notably, charge transfer at the interface between two insulating oxide layers can lead to the formation of a 2D electron gas (2DEG) with possible applications in, e.g.

If two thin ferromagnetic (FM) films are brought into contact, electronic coupling alters their magnetic exchange interaction at their interface. For a low- rare-earth FM coupled to a 3d transition metal FM, even room temperature magnetism is within reach.

Objectives: Radiotherapy to the head and neck region (HN) bears the risk of a rampant development of caries, making intensified prevention necessary. Aim of this systematic review was to summarize the evidence on the efficacy of caries preventive measures in these patients.
Methods: Clinical studies investigating caries in patients with radiotherapy in the HN with at least 1 caries preventive intervention compared to any control were included.

Prior studies have suggested that immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) may display seasonal variation; however, methodologic limitations and sample sizes have diminished the ability to perform a rigorous assessment. This 5-year retrospective study assessed the epidemiology of iTTP and determined whether it displays a seasonal pattern. Patients with both initial and relapsed iTTP (defined as a disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type motifs 13 activity <10%) from 24 tertiary centers in Australia, Canada, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, and the US were included.

To understand the intergenerational effect of maternal obesity, we hypothesized that the maternal obesity effect is mediated by epigenetic changes in the CD34+/CD38-/Lin- hematopoietic stem cells (uHSCs) in the offspring. Towards this, we conducted a DNA methylation centric multi-omics study.

As a medium, wastewater is very complex because of its mixed matrix nature, which makes the deconvolution of wastewater samples more difficult. Here we introduce a gold standard dataset constructed from synthetic viral control mixtures of known composition, spiked into a wastewater RNA matrix and sequenced on the Oxford Nanopore Technologies platform.

These instruments are optimized for high energy resolution, and exhibit image aberrations when operated in high transmission mode at medium energy resolution. Here, a new approach is presented for bandpass-filtered imaging in real or reciprocal space using an electrostatic dodecapole with an asymmetric electrode array.

Methods: In a prospective observational on-road driving study, we examined whether somatic factors can predict on-road driving skills in a mixed sample of healthy older drivers and drivers with MCI (n = 99) and whether the inclusion of age explains additional variance.
Introduction: The effects of air-polishing on exposed root dentin surfaces are largely unknown, as there are only few studies which show heterogeneous results. Thus, this study was to investigate roughness changes of exposed dentin surfaces after air-polishing and the influence of subsequent polishing with cup and paste.
Methods: Totally 54 teeth with exposed root dentin surfaces were treated using a split-mouth design by either air-polishing with erythritol and a rubber cup with polishing paste on the test side, or rubber cup and paste alone.
The sol-gel reaction mechanism of 211 MAX phases has proven to be very complex when identifying the intermediate species, chemical processes, and conversions that occur from a mixture of metal salts and gelling agent into a crystalline ternary carbide. With mostly qualitative results in the literature (CrGaC, CrGeC, and VGeC), additional analytical techniques, including thermal analysis, powder diffraction, total scattering, and various spectroscopic methods, are necessary to unravel the identity of the chemical compounds and transformations during the reaction. Here, we demonstrate the combination of these techniques to understand the details of the sol-gel synthesis of MAX phase VPC.

Alterations of the insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) system are known to play a role in vascular pathologies and IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) are important regulators of the bioavailability and function of IGFs. In this study, we show that circulating plasma levels of IGFBP-1, IGFBP-2 and IGFBP-3 are increased in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) patients compared to healthy individuals.

Healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) represent an enormous burden for patients, healthcare workers, relatives and society worldwide, including Germany. The central tasks of infection prevention are recording and evaluating infections with the aim of identifying prevention potential and risk factors, taking appropriate measures and finally evaluating them. From an infection prevention perspective, it would be of great value if (i) the recording of infection cases was automated and (ii) if it were possible to identify particularly vulnerable patients and patient groups in advance, who would benefit from specific and/or additional interventions.
