Aim: The sealing ability of the retrograde material is greatly affected by the technique used for root end preparation. Advances in retrograde preparation techniques such as lasers has shown to provide an efficient outcome. The study was to evaluate and compare the effect of various techniques of retrograde cavity preparation on apical microleakage.

- Samples included 40 teeth divided into four groups: hand K files, XP-endo Shaper, Neoendoflex file, and Hero Shaper, with the sections analyzed under a scanning electron microscope.
- Results showed that while all rotary systems except hand K files caused significant microcracks, the XP-endo Shaper resulted in the least amount of damage, indicating that single-file systems may be less harmful to dentin integrity.
