Glatiramer acetate (GA) is approved for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the mechanism of action of GA in MS is still unclear. In particular, it is not known whether GA can modulate the pro-inflammatory Th17-type immune response in MS.

Multiple sclerosis is now regarded as a disease, which is based on genetic predisposition. Trigger mechanism are various exogenous factors. The Epstein-Barr virus is thought to be a trigger.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe mechanisms triggering most of autoimmune diseases are still obscure. Autoreactive B cells play a crucial role in the development of such pathologies and, in particular, production of autoantibodies of different specificities. The combination of deep-sequencing technology with functional studies of antibodies selected from highly representative immunoglobulin combinatorial libraries may provide unique information on specific features in the repertoires of autoreactive B cells.

Despite the variety of therapeutics available against MS, the development of novel approaches to its treatment is of high importance in modern pharmaceutics. In this study, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) in Dark Agouti rats has been treated with immunodominant peptides of the myelin basic protein (MBP) encapsulated in mannosylated small unilamellar vesicles.

Development of innovative approaches of MS treatment is of a high priority in the modern immunology and pharmacy. In the present study we showed high therapeutic efficiency of immunodominant peptides of myelin basic protein (MBP) incorporated into the monolayer mannosylated liposomes on the development of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) in DA rats.

Results of annual comparative clinical research of the Russian biosimilar of beta-IFN - 1в at 122 patients with multiple sclerosis are presented. There were positive dynamics on EDSS scores in both groups (in the main group and group of control) in a year of treatment. There were positive dynamics in frequency of relapses in the main group (with 1.

Experience of 10-year administration of glatimer acetate (copaxone) in 74 patients with active remitting multiple sclerosis is summarized. The significant decrease in the frequency of exacerbations was seen over these ten years. Disease severity on the EDSS was stable and decreased only to the end of the 10-year period.

Motor and coordination disorders are the most prominent clinical presentations of multiple sclerosis. Currently, good results were achieved in the pathogenetic treatment of the disease. However methods of treatment of motor and coordination disorders are not widely used.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMultiple sclerosis (MS) is a widespread neurodegenerative autoimmune disease with unknown etiology. It is increasingly evident that, together with pathogenic T cells, autoreactive B cells are among the major players in MS development. The analysis of myelin neuroantigen-specific antibody repertoires and their possible cross-reactivity against environmental antigens, including viral proteins, could shed light on the mechanism of MS induction and progression.
