The solid-state reaction between NaF and VPO is widely used to produce NaV(PO)F, a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries. In the present work, the mechanism and kinetics of the reaction between NaF and VPO were investigated, and the effect of preliminary high-energy ball milling (HEBM) was studied using time-resolved synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, etc. The reaction was attributed to a "dimensional reduction" formalism; it proceeds quickly with the unilateral diffusion of Na and F ions into VPO particles as a limiting stage.

An in situ synchrotron experimental study of phase formation dynamics in clad mechanocomposites of Ti-Al systems during high-temperature synthesis was performed. Cladding of the obtained mechanocomposites was carried out with an SiO target, with a deposition time of 40 min. The high-temperature synthesis was performed using the thermal explosion method based on a microwave induction heater in the in situ mode on an experimental setup adapted to synchrotron radiation time-resolved diffractometry.

Presented in the article are advantages of various methods of treatment of periprosthetic infection which continues to be one of the most challenging problems in modern vascular surgery. We describe herein a clinical case report regarding a patient with late infection of a bifurcated aortofemoral bypass graft. The infectious complication manifested itself by a periprosthetic infiltrate in the area of the distal anastomosis.

A simple and convenient procedure for the production of highly dispersed porous Co-Pt alloys to be used as catalysts for the synthesis of nanostructured carbon fibers (CNF) has been developed. The technique is based on the thermal decomposition of specially synthesized multicomponent precursors in a reducing atmosphere. A series of porous single-phase alloys Co-Pt (10-75 at% Pt) have been synthesized.

Presented herein is a clinical case report regarding hybrid techniques successfully used in a patient suffering from a Crawford type III thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm and DeBakey type IIIB aortic dissection. The first stage consisted in endoprosthetic reconstruction of the descending portion of the thoracic aorta, with the second stage including visceral debranching with endoprosthetic reconstruction of the thoracoabdominal portion of the aorta. As the final stage, the patient was subjected to debranching of brachiocephalic arteries, followed by endoprosthetic repair of the aortic arch.

In situ synchrotron studies of structure and phase formation dynamics in mechanically activated (t = 7 min, power density 40 g) and mechanically activated with subsequent irradiation by γ-quanta Co powder mixture (Ti 64 wt% + Al) during high-temperature synthesis by the method of thermal explosion using induction heating are described. In situ high-temperature synthesis was carried out on the created experimental complex adapted for synchrotron X-ray diffraction methods. The sequence of formation and time-temperature interval of the metastable and main phases were determined.

The dynamics of the diffraction peak shape during pulsed heat load on mosaic single-crystal tungsten were measured at the `Plasma' scattering station on the eighth beamline of the VEPP-4 synchrotron radiation source at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. The observed evolution of the diffraction peak shape agrees with theoretical predictions based on calculations of deformation caused by pulsed heating. Three clearly distinguishable stages of the diffraction-peak evolution were found, correlating with the evolution of temperature and deformation distributions.

The purpose of the study is the socio-hygienic characteristics of the lifestyle and living conditions of urban and rural women and the assessment of their importance in the formation of health. The materials of the study were: the number of newly registered chronic diseases for 5 years, the average number of complaints about diseases during the year, the results of the survey. A socio-hygienic study shows that among urban women there are more divorced women than among rural women, fewer widows, urban women have higher levels of education, more permanent jobs, low physical activity, etc.

An in situ synchrotron study of the specific features of the phase formation dynamics in mechanically activated 16 wt% Al + Ti powder composition is described, the high-temperature synthesis being carried out under the condition of high volume inflammation by means of inductive heating. The kinetics of the phase formation were registered with an experimental complex, especially designed, constructed and adjusted for the method of dynamic diffraction analysis in synchrotron radiation beams. It has been experimentally in situ shown that increasing the time of mechanical activation of the initial powder mixture reduces the temperature at which components start to react and the time of realization of the high-temperature synthesis.

A femoral approach is the main access in stenting of carotid arteries, mainly due to rapid training in how to perform the procedure and a possibility of using large-diameter catheters. However, this approach is not always feasible in atherosclerosis, tortuosity of lower-limb arteries and in certain anatomical peculiarities of the aortic arch. Using a transradial approach is based on the desire to diminish the incidence rate of haemorrhagic complications in the zone of the puncture and to avoid the necessity of a long-term bed rest.

We successfully prepared face-centred cubic nanoalloys in systems of Au-Ir, Au-Rh and Au-Ir-Rh, with large bulk miscibility gaps, in one-run reactions under thermal decomposition of specially synthesised single-source precursors, namely, [AuEn][Ir(NO)], [AuEn][Ir(NO)] [Rh(NO)] and [AuEn][Rh(NO)]. The precursors employed contain all desired metals 'mixed' at the atomic level, thus providing significant advantages for obtaining alloys. The observations using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy show that the nanoalloy structures are composed of well-dispersed aggregates of crystalline domains with a mean size of 5 ± 3 nm.

EXAFS (Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) spectra of an amorphous solid Bi complex with citrate (known as De-Nol) and its aqueous solutions in a wide concentration range are measured. For the solutions good agreement is revealed between their structural parameters and the averaged interatomic distances and coordination numbers of the crystalline polymeric bismuth citrate compound composed of 12-nuclear Bi clusters based on the structure BiO. So, it is found that droplets of the colloidal solution have a core structure close to the solid BiO cluster structure.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) in the periphery of subjects with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) decrease over time, and the fate of these cells has been the subject of ongoing investigation. Previous studies using animal models as well as studies with humans suggest that these cells may redistribute to the gut. Other studies using animal models propose that the periphery pDCs are depleted and gut is repopulated with naive pDCs from the bone marrow.

We have successfully prepared a face-centered cubic Au-Pd nanoporous structure (NPS) in a one-pot reaction under thermal decomposition of single-source precursor [Pd(NH(3))(4)][AuCl(4)](2). The precursor employed contains both desired metals 'mixed' on the molecular level, thus providing its significant advantages for obtaining alloys. The observation using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope has shown that the nanostructure was composed of interconnected polycrystalline ligaments with an average diameter of 14 ± 3 nm.
