Port retrieval for salvage of tissue expansion in case of lost or malfunctioning port.

Tissue expansion though a promising modality of reconstructive surgery is fraught with many complications. In addition to expander-related complications, subcutaneous port-related mishaps during tissue expansion, though infrequent, can result in procedure failures. We are reporting two patients with port-related complications.

Dormant primary cutaneous actinomycosis: Acute exacerbation after 16 years.

Actinomycosis of head and neck are secondary to a nidus in the oral cavity and the aero-digestive tract. Primary actinomycosis without such predisposition is mostly due to trauma. We are presenting a case of this rare variant involving the forehead.

The pedicled thoraco-umbilical flap: A versatile technique for upper limb coverage.

Injuries to upper limb has been on the increase and is invariably associated with significant soft tissue loss requiring a flap cover. Local tissue may not be available for cover in a majority of situations, necessitating import of tissue from a distant source. We have utilized the thoraco-umbilical flap taken from the trunk for this purpose.

HIV voluntary counseling and testing: an experience from India.

Despite proof of voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) effectiveness in HIV disease prevention and management, there are limited reports on experience with pre- and post-HIV-test counseling in developing countries. In view of this, we aimed to bring to the fore the voluntary counseling and testing experience at a tertiary healthcare center. The present study was conducted at the voluntary counseling and testing center of a tertiary healthcare center and the National HIV Reference Center.
