Dry eye is a complicated ocular surface disease that causes discomfort, visual disturbance, and frequently observed ocular surface damage. Emerging hypotheses suggest probiotics may help relieve dry eye symptoms by modulating inflammation and oxidative stress. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of iHA318 probiotics on dry eye using in vitro assays and an in vivo murine model of ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation-induced dry eye.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how activities that engage the hippocampus promote the creation of new neurons in the adult brain, specifically in the dentate gyrus.
  • During contextual exploration, researchers recorded increased activity in inhibitory neurons and a decrease in excitatory neurons, which aligned with an increase in neurogenesis.
  • They identified that the signaling of a specific metabolite, sphingosine-1-phosphate, during exploration enhances inhibitory neuron activity, suggesting a link between metabolic processes and neuron generation driven by behaviors.
