Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates how well an AI algorithm, originally designed for conventional CT images, can detect ground-glass nodules on virtual monochromatic images, aiming to find the best energy level for clinical use.
  • Researchers analyzed chest CT images from patients with different stages of adenocarcinoma, using a commercial AI system to process various energy levels of virtual images.
  • Results showed that while the AI performed well on both images, 80 keV was the most effective energy level for identifying invasive adenocarcinoma, with no significant difference in performance between conventional and virtual images.

Background: A standard surgical procedure for patients with small early-stage lung adenocarcinomas remains unknown. Hence, we aim in this study to assess the clinical utility of the consolidation-to-tumor ratio (CTR) when treating patients with small (2 cm) early stage lung cancers.

Methods: A retrospective cohort of 298 sublobar resection and 266 lobar resection recipients for early stage lung adenocarcinoma ≤ 2 cm was assembled from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2016 and 2019.

Intracranial aneurysm (IA) counts are increasing yearly, with a high mortality and disability after rupture. Current diagnosis and treatment rely on costly equipment, lacking effective indicators for progression prediction and specific drugs for treatment. Recently, peripheral blood biomarkers, as common clinical test samples, reflecting the immune and inflammatory state of the body in real-time, have shown promise in providing additional information for risk stratification and treatment in IA patients, which may improve their outcomes after aneurysm rupture through anti-inflammatory therapy.

Background: Mixed ground-glass lung nodules are a high-risk factor for lung adenocarcinoma. This study aimed to analyze the value of SDCT electron density imaging in the detection of mixed ground-glass lung nodules (GGNs).

Method: 150 patients with GGNs confirmed by chest SDCT and surgical pathology were retrospectively analyzed.

The protective effect of Cannabidiol on Parkinson's disease (PD) has been found in recent study. However, the specific mechanism of the protective effect of Cannabidiol on PD nerve damage require further exploration. This study aims to investigate effect of Cannabidiol on MMP-induced Neural Cells (SH-SY5Y) mitochondrial dysfunction.

In this work, a colorimetric film was designed for shrimp freshness monitoring by incorporating rose anthocyanins (RAs) in polyvinyl alcohol/okra mucilage polysaccharide (PVA/OMP) composite film. The presence of OMP changed the film-forming solution from Newtonian to non-Newtonian fluid. The addition of OMP and RAs decreased the crystalline of PVA due to the hydrogen bonds among RAs, OMP and PVA.

Colorimetric films incorporated with anthocyanins as an indicator for freshness monitoring have aroused growing interest recently. However, the application of the films is limited by the easily oxidizable nature of anthocyanins. In this work, we developed a novel colorimetric film with a barrier by coating mulberry anthocyanin (MBA) on the internal side of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer-montmorillonite (EVOH-MMT) multilayer film.

This study aims to evaluate the applications and values of dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) intelligent optimal kV scanning technology (CARE kV) in coronary CT angiography (CCTA). 150 patients with normal body mass index were performed DSCT coronary angiography, then randomly divided into the "Semi", 120,100 and 80 kV Group, and the 2 "on" groups, with 30 patients in each group. The first 5 groups used the reference voltage as 120 kV, and the reference current as 400 mAs, while the other group used the reference voltage as 100 kV, and the reference current as 400 mAs.
