Dosimetric Comparison of Commonly Used Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Field Arrangements Based on Flattening Filter-Free Beams for Synchronous Bilateral Breast Carcinoma Radiation Therapy.

Purpose: Flattening filter-free (FFF)-based volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) has been shown to be feasible and significantly improves treatment efficiency and lung protection for synchronous bilateral breast irradiation (SBBI). This research compared the commonly used VMAT field arrangements using FFF beams.

Methods: Twenty-eight patients underwent SBBI were retrospectively enrolled to design irradiation plans using tangential arc VMAT (taVMAT), half arc VMAT (haVMAT), and large arc VMAT (laVMAT).

Application of a simple skin stretching system and negative pressure wound therapy in repair of complex diabetic foot wounds.

The management of complex diabetic foot wounds with large skin defects poses a challenge for surgeons. We presented a simple skin stretching system and negative pressure wound therapy for the repair of complex diabetic foot wounds to examine the effectiveness and safety.A total of 16 patients with diabetic foot ulcers were retrospectively reviewed between January 2015 and October 2020.

[Biomechanical study on femoroplasty-augmentation for prevention of osteoporotic hip fractures].

Objective: To explore whether femoral plasty can improve the fracture resistance of osteoporotic femoral specimens and prevent hip fracture, and to compare the difference of mechanical strength changes between two different femoral plasty methods in osteoporotic femoral specimens, so as to determine the best strengthening area of the plasty.

Methods: Eighteen pairs of fresh osteoporotic femur specimens were collected and divided into two groups, A and B, 9 pairs in each group. Nine fresh osteoporotic femur specimens in each group were randomly selected for enhancement, and the corresponding contralateral specimens were used as control group.

miR-487a performs oncogenic functions in osteosarcoma by targeting BTG2 mRNA.

Aberrant microRNA (miRNA) expression plays a critical role in osteosarcoma (OS) pathogenesis. In this study, we elucidated the involvement of miR-487a in OS and the underlying molecular mechanisms. We found that miR-487a was upregulated in OS clinical samples and cell lines.

Long non-coding RNA LINC01419 mediates miR-519a-3p/PDRG1 axis to promote cell progression in osteosarcoma.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most aggressive malignancies with mortality rate worldwide. Recently, long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1419 (LINC01419) has been reported to function as an oncogene in several cancers.

MiR-149 suppresses the inflammatory response of chondrocytes in osteoarthritis by down-regulating the activation of TAK1/NF-κB.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that with the complication of disability, while inflammation is the important response of OA. MiR-149 was down-regulated in the OA tissues, while the potential mechanism of miR-149 in OA is unclear.

Methods: A total of 20 OA patients and 20 healthy persons were enrolled in the present study.

Biomechanical indices of stiffness, stress, and maximum load-to-failure were detected by biomechanical test. mRNA and protein levels of miR-363, p-PI3K/AKT, tendon-related genes Collagen I, Scleraxis (Scx), and Tenascin C (TNC) were measured by qRT-PCR and western blot.

Distinct prognostic values of ALDH1 isoenzymes in breast cancer.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1), also known as aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family, is composed of six enzymes that are expressed at high levels in stem cells and are involved in the regulation of stem cell function. Increased ALDH1 activity has been found in the stem cell populations of leukemia and some solid tumors including breast cancer (BC). However, which ALDH1's isoenzymes are contributing to ALDH1 activity has not been determined.

[Treatment of tibiofibular diastasis without ankle fracture with endobutton device].

Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of Endobutton device in the treatment of tibiofibular diastasis without ankle fracture.

Methods: From January 2009 to January 2011, a total of 8 patients with tibiofibular diastasis without ankle fracture were treated with Endobutton device. There were 6 males and 2 females with an average age of 34 years (ranged, 25 to 44 years).

[Treatment strategy of double disruption of the superior shoulder suspensor complex (SSSC)].

Objective: To discuss efficacy of the surgical treatment strategy of double disruption of the superior shoulder suspensor complex (SSSC).

Methods: The data of 15 patients with double disruption of the SSSC were retrospectively analyzed from January 2008 to December 2009. There were 11 males and 4 females, with an average age of 45.

Phase I clinical trial of nasopharyngeal radiotherapy and concurrent celecoxib for patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

We evaluated the incidence of acute toxicity of concurrent cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor (celecoxib) plus radiotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Thirty-four patients received an accumulated radiation dose of 72-76Gy in 36-38 fractions to the primary lesion and 60Gy in 30 fractions to cervical lymph-node lesions. Palpable residual nodes were boosted to 70Gy at the 90% isodose level with an electron field.

[Application of elastic intramedullary nail in treating bilateral femoral shaft fractures in children].

Objective: To explore the curative effects and complications of elastic intramedullary nail in treating children's bilateral femoral shaft fractures.

Methods: Form February 2005 to March 2008, 7 patients with bilateral femoral shaft fractures were treated by closed reduction and internal fixation with elastic intramedullary nail. There were 5 males and 2 females.
