Regeneration remains a major challenge in skeletal muscle repair after injury. Recently, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)/Smad pathway was found to play an important role in inhibiting myogenesis, a crucial stage in skeletal muscle regeneration. In our previous study, microRNA-122-5p (miR-122) was proved to have the function of downregulating TGF-β/Smad pathway.

A PS film was formed in advance on the inner wall of a silica glass capillary tube, which enabled us to prepare a high-qualified PPy sensitive film inside the tube. The crystallinity, morphology, microstructure and carrier transport properties of the PPy film were characterized by XRD, SEM, FTIR and Hall effect system, respectively.

Objective: To investigate whether hyaluronic acid (HA) could increase the stability of BLM foam and to evaluate the safety and efficacy of HA-BLM foam.
Background: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) which characterized by complex three-dimensional deformity of spine has been difficult to cure because of the unknown etiopathology and uncertainty of progression. Nowadays, circulating cell-free (ccf) DNA was found to be a potential biomarker for several benign and malignant diseases. However, whether ccf DNA can be a biomarker for AIS has not been reported yet.

Herein, a core@shell structural Fe-FeO@poly (hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene-co-polyethylenimine) (Fe-FeO@PHCP) magnetic nanochain with high saturation magnetization was fabricated and used for effective adsorption and reduction of hexavalent chromium. The morphology and microstructure of Fe-FeO@PHCP were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Objective: To modify the currently used method for preparing bleomycin foam, to simplify the preparation procedure, and to produce foam with greater volume and increased stability.
Engineering conducting polymer thin films with morphological homogeneity and long-range molecular ordering is intriguing to achieve high-performance organic electronics. Polyaniline (PANI) has attracted considerable interest due to its appealing electrical conductivity and diverse chemistry. However, the synthesis of large-area PANI thin film and the control of its crystallinity and thickness remain challenging because of the complex intermolecular interactions of aniline oligomers.

Can successful electrical shock in combination with a delayed after-depolarization (DAD) blocker suppress early refibrillation episodes following long duration ventricular fibrillation (LDVF)? What is the main finding and its importance? Flunarizine significantly reduced the activation of LDVF and early ventricular fibrillation (VF) recurrence following LDVF, suggesting that DADs potentially contribute to refibrillation in prolonged VF. Thus, DAD inhibition can be used as an adjunctive therapy for electrical defibrillation to treat prolonged VF and suppress refibrillation following LDVF.
Abstract: This study attempts to detect changes in the defibrillation threshold (DFT) at different stages of ventricular fibrillation (VF) (short duration VF, SDVF; long duration VF, LDVF) and during early refibrillation following successful defibrillation of LDVF by giving flunarizine, a blocker of delayed after-depolarizations (DADs).
The development of novel adsorbents with high adsorption capacity and easy recovery property is imperative in the field of wastewater treatment. In this study, a hard template-induced assembly strategy was developed to fabricate the magnetic hollow poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol)-FeO (PZS-FeO) hybrid nanocapsules, in which FeO nanoparticles were well embedded in the cross-linked PZS shell. The resulting samples were well characterized using SEM, TEM, EDS, FT-IR, VSM, XPS, XRD and N sorption.

Summary Of Background Data: The number of citations that a paper has received reflects its impact in related research area.
Background: Idiopathic scoliosis (IS) is a complex disease with an unclear etiology, and the worldwide prevalence is approximately 2-3%. As an important link between environmental factors and phenotypic differences, epigenetic changes, such as lncRNA, miRNA, and DNA methylation, have recently been reported to be associated with the development of IS. However, the correlation between histone methylation, another classical epigenetic mechanism, and IS has not been determined.

Purpose: To examine the effect of human bone marrow stem cell (hBMSC)-CM on graft-bone integration and graft midsubstance ligamentization in a rat model of ACLR.
: Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is one of the major clinical characteristics of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Small non-coding RNAs, such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and transfer RNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) play key roles in diverse biological functions. The purpose of the study was to investigate the roles and possible functions of the miRNAs and tsRNAs in CNV.

This study is designed to investigate the role of ICC and the ANO1 channel in colonic transit disorder in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-treated colitis mice.
Methods: Colonic transit experiment, colonic migrating motor complexes (CMMCs), smooth muscle spontaneous contractile experiments, intracellular electrical recordings, western blotting analysis, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction were applied in this study.
Objective: We aimed to compare the clinical efficacy of titanium mesh cage with that of allogeneic bone graft to reconstruct the anterior column through posterior approach for the surgical management of patients with thoracolumbar spinal tuberculosis with kyphosis.
Methods: From January 2011 to March 2013, 57 patients with single-segment or two-segments thoracolumbar spinal tuberculosis with kyphosis were treated by debridement, interbody graft, posterior instrumentation, and fusion via a posterior-only procedure. Twenty-four patients in group A were treated with allogeneic bone graft to reconstruct the anterior column, whereas 33 patients in group B were treated with titanium mesh cage.
The anterior and middle columns instead of the posterior column of spine are usually destroyed by tuberculosis which could aggravate the kyphosis accompanying the growth imbalance of spine in children. The surgical method needs to be selected cautiously for effective treatment. To our knowledge, few studies have evaluated mid-term outcomes of 2 surgeries (posterior-only approach and combined posterior and anterior approaches) with allograft or shaped titanium mesh cages for the treatment of lumbar tuberculosis in children.

A total of 120 male adult Sprague-Dawley rats were separated into four groups: the sham control (SC), sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), CLP-ADMSCs, and CLP-sTNFR1 small interfering RNA (siRNA) groups; CLP groups underwent CLP and then received 1 × 10 ADMSCs with or without knockdown of sTNFR1 intravenously at 1 hr after surgery. Rats were killed at 3, 6, 24, and 48 hr after the SC or CLP procedures.

As the concentrated discharge outlet of an aquifer or groundwater system, a karst spring is partly independent from the aquifer, due to its formation of a pool or lake after outcropping onto the surface. Understanding how to evaluate the unique and sensitive environment of the karst spring is essential for water resource protection. Five karst springs in South China were investigated by analyzing their hydrodynamic conditions, variations in physicochemical parameters, and phytoplankton community structures.
