It is commonly believed that alertness and attention decrease after sleep deprivation (SD). However, there are not enough studies on the changes in psychomotor vigilance testing (PVT) during SD and the corresponding changes in brain function and brain structure after SD. Therefore, we recruited 30 healthy adult men to perform a 36 h acute SD experiment, including the measurement of five indicators of PVT every 2 h, and analysis of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and grey matter volume (GMV) changes, before and after SD by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

To investigate the protective effect and immune mechanism of berberine on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats. Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group (Sham), model group (Model), berberine low dose groups (BBR-L, 25 mg/kg), berberine medium dose groups (BBR-M, 50 mg/kg) and berberine high dose groups (BBR-H, 100 mg/kg), with 10 rats in each group. Longa suture method was used to establish a rat model of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, after 2 hours of ischemia, reperfusion for 24 hours.

BACKGROUND This study aimed to compare multiple quantitative evaluation indices of levels of theoretical knowledge and clinical practice skills in training medical interns in cardiovascular imaging based on the use of the blended teaching (BT) online artificial intelligence (AI) case resource network platform (CRNP), including time and frequency indices and effectiveness of the CRNP. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 110 medical interns who were divided into the routine teaching (RT) group (n=55) and the blended teaching (BT) group (n=55). Studying the reproductive attributes of pests is central to understanding their life cycle history and in crafting management strategies to regulate, if not bring down, their population below threshold levels. In this article, the morphology of the male reproductive tract, topology of the spermatozoa, and salient features of spermiogenesis in the Chinese white pine beetle, Dendroctonus armandi Tsai and Li was studied to provide baseline information for further pest management studies. Results showed that male reproductive tract of this species differs from those documented in other Coleopterans by having 20 testicular tubules in each testis and the presence of two types of accessory glands.

We investigate a hybrid quantum system combining cavity quantum electrodynamics and optomechanics, where a photon mode is coupled to a four-level tripod atom and to a mechanical mode via radiation pressure. We find that within the single-photon optomechanics and Lamb-Dicke limit, the presence of the tripod atom alters the optical properties of the cavity radiation field drastically, and gives rise to completely quantum destructive interference effects in the optical scattering. The heating rate can be dramatically suppressed via utilizing the completely destructive interference involving atom, photon and phonon, and the obtained result is analogous to that of the resolved sideband regime.

When a trichromatic laser field is applied to a cavity optomechanical system within the single-photon strong-coupling regime, we find that the motion of mirror can evolve into a dark state such that the cavity field mode cannot absorb energy from the external field. Via tuning three components of the pumping field to be resonant to the carrier, red-sideband and blue-sideband transitions in the displaced representation respectively, the state of mirror motion can exhibit non-classical properties, such as that in the Lamb-Dicke limit, the state evolves into a squeezed coherent state, and beyond the limit, the state can become a squeezed non-Gaussian state.

The development of lipidomics enables the characterization of lipid species and detailed lipid profiling in body fluid, tissue or cell, and allows for a wider understanding of the biological roles of lipid networks. Lipidomic research has been greatly facilitated by recent advances in ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) and involved in lipid extraction, lipid identification and data analysis supporting applications from qualitative and quantitative assessment of multiple lipid species.

A series of 5,7-disubstituted chrysin, 7-monosubstituted chrysin, 5-monosubstituted chrysin derivatives were synthesized by alkylation, acetylation, benzoylation, carboxymethylation, and evaluated on their antitumor activity of H22 cells in the search for potential antitumor agents. Among them, compound 3 (5,7-diacetyl chrysin) displayed the most potent antitumor activity with IC50 value of 141 μM. Moreover, there is significant up-regulation of G2 in cell cycle of H22.

The present study aimed to evaluate whether the protein transduction domain (PTD)-conjugated human tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) fusion protein was effective on the 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced Parkinson's disease (PD) model rats. An expression vector pET-PTD-TH harbouring the PTD-TH gene was constructed and transformed to the Escherichia coli BL21 cells for expression. The expressed recombinant PTD-TH with a molecular weight of 61 kD was successfully transduced (1 microM) into the dopaminergic SH-sy5y human neuroblastoma cells in vitro and visualized by immunohistochemical assay.
