Xuanwei and the neighboring Fuyuan (XF) counties in Yunnan Province have the highest lung cancer incidence rates in China. Previous studies suggest that the nano-minerals released during the combustion of locally sourced "smoky" (bituminous) coal are the primary contributors to these elevated cancer rates. The coal ash generated during combustion predominantly consists of nano-minerals, which can be resuspended into the atmosphere during routine ash-handling activities.

In general, neuronal excitability and therefore seizure predisposition results from an imbalance of excitation over inhibition in neurons and neural networks of the brain. Animal models provide clues to mechanisms and thereby provide potential therapeutic approaches.

Only a few simple sequence repeats (SSRs) of have been isolated and reported, which has hindered breeding progress. A total of 318,862 SSRs were isolated and characterized from the genome in this study.

The primary objectives of surgical intervention for CPT include achieving long-term bony union of the tibia, preventing or minimizing limb length discrepancies (LLD), avoiding mechanical axis deviations of the tibia and adjacent joints, and preventing refracture. This study aims to conduct a systematic review of current treatment methods for CPT to determine the most effective non-surgical and surgical management strategies for pediatric patients with this condition.

Here, we employed third-generation PacBio sequencing to uncover a novel allele arising from an intron splice site mutation, which altered the expected A phenotype to manifest as an Ael phenotype. The study aimed to characterize the molecular mechanism underlying this phenotypic switch.

However, the specific risk factors contributing to stone formation during pregnancy, particularly within the Chinese population, remain poorly understood. This retrospective survey aimed to identify demographic, clinical, and obstetric risk factors associated with urinary tract stones in pregnant women at a tertiary hospital in China.

Thrombocytopenia is the most common hemostatic abnormality in liver cirrhosis. However, it is still unclear about whether thrombocytopenia increases the failure of EVT in cirrhotic patients with AVB.

Despite their effectiveness, the empty BBP vectors post-drug release may pose long-term safety risks due to their difficult systemic clearance. Here, a responsive degradable BBP platform for cancer therapy is developed, featuring a poly(disulfide) backbone grafted with fluorine-terminated zwitterionic side chains.

Immune cell subsets play a complex and crucial role in this process, closely linked to the neonatal health status. Despite recognizing the significance of dysregulation in the quantity and activity of immune cells in neonatal disease occurrence, their specific roles remain elusive, resulting in a dearth of clinically viable interventions for immune-mediated neonatal diseases.

Objective: To investigate the correlation of the clinical characteristics, fever characteristics, serum biomarkers with cytokine release syndrome (CRS) in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM) treated with chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) immunotherapy.
Methods: 104 R/R MM patients who received CAR-T cell therapy at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from June 2017 to November 2021 were included, and the correlations of their clinical characteristics, fever characteristics, serum biomarkers with the severity of CRS were analyzed.
Results: Among 104 R/R MM patients receiving CAR-T treatment, no CRS was observed in 8 cases (7.
Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a persistent neurodevelopmental disorder affecting brains of children. Mounting evidences support the associations between gut microbial dysbiosis and ASD, whereas detailed mechanisms are still obscure.
Methods: Here we probed the potential roles of gut microbiome in ASD using fecal metagenomics and metabolomics.
Since agriculture is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, accurately calculating these emissions is essential for simultaneously addressing climate change and food security challenges. This paper explores the critical role of trade in transferring agricultural greenhouse gas (AGHG) emissions throughout global agricultural supply chains. We develop a detailed AGHG emission inventory with comprehensive coverage across a wide range of countries and emission sources at first.

In this study, based on l-arginine (l-Arg)-loaded mesoporous hollow cerium oxide (AhCeO) nanospheres, we constructed an injectable composite hydrogel (AhCeO-Gel) with microenvironment modulation capability. AhCeO-Gel protected NSCs from oxidative damage by eliminating excess reactive oxygen species while continuously delivering Nitric Oxide to the lesion of SCI in a pathological microenvironment, the latter of which effectively promoted the neural differentiation of NSCs.

The probiotic strain Nissle 1917 (EcN) with high biocompatibility and susceptibility to genetic modification is often applied in bacterial therapies for cancer. However, most studies have used plasmids as vectors to construct engineering strains from EcN. Plasmid-based expression systems suffer from genetic instability, and they need antibiotic selective pressure to maintain high copy number.

Results: A total of 28 patients were recruited in this research.
Three-dimensional structured illumination microscopy (3D-SIM) provides excellent optical sectioning and doubles the resolution in all dimensions compared with wide-field microscopy. However, its much lower axial resolution results in blurred fine details in that direction and overall image distortion. Here we present 4Pi-SIM, a substantial revamp of IS that synergizes 3D-SIM with interferometric microscopy to achieve isotropic optical resolution through interference in both the illumination and detection wavefronts.

As a key science project of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), the discovery and timing observations of radio pulsars in the Galactic Center would provide high-precision measurements of the spacetime around the supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), and initiate novel tests of general relativity. The spin of Sgr A* could be measured with a relative error of ≲1% by timing one pulsar with timing precision that is achievable for the SKA. However, the real measurements depend on the discovery of a pulsar in a very compact orbit, P_{b}≲0.

The mesenchymal transformations of infiltrating gliomas are uncommon events. This is particularly true of IDH-mutant astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas, in which mesenchymal transformation is exceedingly rare. oligosarcoma is a newly recognized methylation class (MC) that represents transformed 1p/19q co-deleted oligodendrogliomas, but recent studies indicate it may be non-specific.

Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6A2 (COX6A2) and Farnesoid X Receptor (FXR) have been identified in pancreatic β-cells, however, whether they are involved in β-cell apoptosis is unclear. Here, we sought to investigate the role of FXR-regulated COX6A2 in diabetic β-cell apoptosis.
