Background: Pharmacists have some prescriptive authority in all fifty states through dependent and independent prescribing. Data describing the volume and characteristics of pharmacist prescribing are not widely available, and these insights are critical to gauge the impact of regulations supporting pharmacist prescriptive authority.
Objective: To identify trends in pharmacist prescribing and compare them to primary care provider (PCP) prescribing trends by analyzing e-prescriptions initiated from electronic health records systems from 2019 through 2022.
To design, implement, and assess the use of "educational prescriptions" or Education Rx assignments in advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs) in ambulatory care, and to assess the impact of the assignments on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students' self-efficacy to practice evidence-based medicine (EBM). Students enrolled in select ambulatory care APPEs completed up to four Education Rx assignments. The assignments required students to report the context of the question, source of information, results, appraisal of validity, and relevance of the evidence, and to answer the clinical question.

Objective: The primary objectives were to assess the association of DTP likelihood of harm (LoH) severity score, as measured by comprehensive medication management (CMM) pharmacist after hospital discharge, with 30-day risk of hospital readmission, observation visit, or emergency department visit, and to determine whether resolution of DTPs reduces 30-day risk. Secondary objectives were to determine if any eventswere associated with DTPs and preventability of events.
Though older adults are more sensitive to the effects of medications than their younger counterparts, they are often excluded from manufacturer-based clinical studies. Practice-based research is a practical method to identify medication-related effects in older patients. This research also highlights the role of a pharmacist in improving care in this population.

The practice model involves a geriatrician, nurse practitioner, and pharmacist who care for individuals at a community-based SNF. Setting: Minnesota from September 2012 to December 2013. The health system has more than 50 primary care and specialty clinics.
Advancing age is associated with an increased risk of herpes zoster (shingles) infection and latent effects such as postherpetic neuralgia. The herpes zoster vaccine is recommended in those 60 years of age and older and has been shown to prevent both the primary disease and associated complications. While this recommendation applies to those living in long-term care facilities, there is little clinical evidence to support use in this population.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a core skill of health professionals and one that is regularly taught in health sciences programs. This report covers the design and results of an interprofessional EBP workshop at a large university aimed at improving faculty's confidence in practicing and teaching EBP. The two-day workshop was designed by the University's Health Sciences Libraries and emphasized small-group work, with the first day focused on critical appraisal and searching and the second on effective teaching strategies.
