Wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an acquired degeneration of the retina that can lead to central vision impairment. To manage COVID-19 infection rates, internal resources were applied to develop and implement a mass asymptomatic surveillance program. Objective: The aims of this systematic review were to (1) synthesize the available qualitative evidence on the barriers and facilitators influencing implementation of the electronic collection and use of patient-reported measures (PRMs) in older adults' care from various stakeholder perspectives and (2) map these factors to the digital technology implementation framework (NASSS) and behavior change framework (COM-B).

Materials And Methods: A search of MEDLINE, CINAHL Plus, and Web of Science databases from 1 January 2001 to 27 October 2021 was conducted and included English language qualitative studies exploring stakeholder perspectives on the electronic collection and use of PRMs in older adults' care. Two authors independently screened studies, conducted data extraction, quality appraisal using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP), data coding, assessed confidence in review findings using Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation Confidence in the Evidence from Reviews of Qualitative Research (GRADE CERQual), and mapped the findings to NASSS and COM-B.

Emerging regenerative cell therapies for alveolar bone loss have begun to explore the use of cell laden hydrogels for minimally invasive surgery to treat small and spatially complex maxilla-oral defects. However, the oral cavity presents a unique and challenging environment for in vivo bone tissue engineering, exhibiting both hard and soft periodontal tissue as well as acting as key biocenosis for many distinct microbial communities that interact with both the external environment and internal body systems, which will impact on cell fate and subsequent treatment efficacy. Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is an age-associated phenomenon leading to an increased risk of both hematologic malignancy and nonmalignant organ dysfunction. Increasingly available genetic testing has made the incidental discovery of CH clinically common yet evidence-based guidelines and effective management strategies to prevent adverse CH health outcomes are lacking. To address this gap, the prospective CHIVE (clonal hematopoiesis and inflammation in the vasculature) registry and biorepository was created to identify and monitor individuals at risk, support multidisciplinary CH clinics, and refine taxonomy and standards of practice for CH risk mitigation.

Most low-mass stars form in stellar clusters that also contain massive stars, which are sources of far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation. Theoretical models predict that this FUV radiation produces photodissociation regions (PDRs) on the surfaces of protoplanetary disks around low-mass stars, which affects planet formation within the disks. We report James Webb Space Telescope and Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of a FUV-irradiated protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula.

Human trophoblast stem cells (hTSCs) and related trophoblast organoids are state-of-the-art culture systems that facilitate the study of trophoblast development and human placentation. Using single-cell transcriptomics, we evaluate how organoids derived from freshly isolated first-trimester trophoblasts or from established hTSC cell lines reproduce developmental cell trajectories and transcriptional regulatory processes defined in vivo. Although organoids from primary trophoblasts and hTSCs overall model trophoblast differentiation with accuracy, specific features related to trophoblast composition, trophoblast differentiation, and transcriptional drivers of trophoblast development show levels of misalignment.

Purpose: Febrile neutropenia (FN) in pediatric patients with cancer can cause severe infections, and prompt antibiotics are warranted. Extrapolated from other populations, a time-to-antibiotic (TTA) metric of <60 minutes after medical center presentation was established, with compliance data factoring into pediatric oncology program national rankings.

Methods: All FN episodes occurring at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital (2007-February 2022) and a sample of episodes from Colorado Children's Hospital (2012-2019) were abstracted, capturing TTA and clinical outcomes including major complications (intensive care unit [ICU] admission, vasopressors, intubation, or infection-related mortality).

The fundamental repeat unit of chromatin, the nucleosome, consists of approximately 147 base pairs of double-stranded DNA and a histone protein octamer containing two copies each of histones H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. Each histone possesses a dynamically disordered N-terminal tail domain, and it is well-established that the tails of histones H3 and H4 play key roles in chromatin compaction and regulation. Here we investigate the conformational ensemble and interactions of the H4 tail in nucleosomes by means of solution NMR measurements of paramagnetic relaxation enhancements (PREs) in recombinant samples reconstituted with N-enriched H4 and nitroxide spin-label tagged H3.
