In oncology, preclinical and early clinical data increasingly support the use of a number of candidate "non-cancer" drugs in an off-label setting against multiple tumor types. In particular, metabolically targeted drugs show promise as adjuvant chemo and radiosensitizers, improving or restoring sensitivity to standard therapies. The time has come for large scale clinical studies of off-label drugs in this context.

Exploiting the real-time advantages offered by mobile technologies during and after pregnancy has the potential to empower women and encourage behaviors that may improve maternal and child health.
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of eHealth technologies for weight management during pregnancy and the postpartum period and to review the efficacy of eHealth technologies on health behaviors, specifically nutrition and physical activity.
Introduction: This study evaluated whether intervening with child care providers would increase physical activity (PA) and reduce adiposity in preschoolers.
Methods: This was a two-arm, parallel group, cluster RCT whereby six child care centers were randomly assigned in equal numbers to intervention (n=40 children) or control (n=43 children). Participants were aged 3-5 years and attended licensed child care centers.
Purpose: Knowing that motor skills will not develop to their full potential without opportunities to practice in environments that are stimulating and supportive, we evaluated the effect of a physical activity (PA)-based intervention targeting childcare providers on fundamental movement skills (FMS) in preschoolers attending childcare centers.
Methods: In this two-arm cluster-randomized controlled trial, six licensed childcare centers in Ottawa, Canada, were randomly allocated into one of two groups (three controls, n = 43; three interventions, n = 40). Participants were between the ages of 3 and 5 yr.
Background: A significant proportion of women exceeds or does not meet the Institute of Medicine's gestational weight gain (GWG) guidelines. Inadequate, excessive GWG or weight loss during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of negative maternal and fetal outcomes. Among the many determinants of GWG identified in the 2009 Institute of Medicine guidelines, culture was named as one of the few whose influence has not been fully explored.

We tested whether the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ) could accurately estimate PA by comparing PPAQ results to directly measured PA.

The stromal layer is critical to the progression and survival of the neoplasm and consequently is recruited into the tumor microenvironment.
Methods: Using both syngeneic mouse tumors (ID8-R) and human xenograft (OVCAR3, SKOV3) tumor models, we first confirmed that intraperitoneally injected circulating mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) could target, preferentially engraft and differentiate into α-smooth muscle actin-positive myofibroblasts, suggesting their role as "reactive stroma" in ovarian carcinoma development and confirming their potential as a targeted delivery vehicle for the intratumoral production of interferon-β (IFN-β).
