Dietary lipid absorption is facilitated by bile acids. In the Zucker rat (ZR) model of obesity, bile acid absorption, mediated by the apical sodium bile acid transporter (ASBT), was increased in villus cells from the distal ileum. However, whether ASBT may be de novo expressed more proximally in the small intestine during obesity to facilitate additional bile acid absorption is not known.

: Dysfunctions of metabolic syndrome (MetS) have been identified as a significant risk factor for colorectal cancer (CRC). However, current colon cancer guidelines do not classify patients with MetS as high risk, thereby leaving these individuals vulnerable. Consequently, we explored the relationship between MetS, its individual components, and the development of CRC in a cohort of patients with MetS to assess the necessity for CRC screening in these individuals.

Perforation of the bowel can be a life-threatening condition and is usually clinically diagnosed when a patient presents with such features as severe abdominal pain, tenderness, and tachycardia. Bowel perforation may be corroborated by various conventional imaging modalities, including X-ray, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Nuclear medicine imaging modalities seldom have a role to play in these settings.

With the increasing number of interventional cardiology procedures, the number of cardiac device infections (including pacemakers, prosthetic valves, coronary and aortic stents) have also increased. These infections can cause significant morbidity and can even lead to mortality if not managed promptly. If suspected clinically the first-line imaging modality is Trans-Thoracic Echocardiography, while Transesophageal Echocardiography is also used in selected cases.

The extensive use of chemical pesticides has significantly boosted agricultural food crop yields. Nevertheless, their excessive and unregulated application has resulted in food contamination and pollution in environmental, aquatic, and agricultural ecosystems. Consequently, the on-site monitoring of pesticide residues in agricultural practices is paramount to safeguard global food and conservational safety.

Purpose: To assess the negative predictive value of PSMA PET scan for lymph node staging in patients undergoing robotic radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients who underwent robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection and had a preoperative negative PSMA PET scan for metastasis was performed. The documented pre-operative variables studied included age, BMI, PSA at diagnosis, Gleason score, and biopsy ISUP grades.

Background: Long-term outcomes of acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) have been reported. However, the immediate- and short-term outcomes have not been reported adequately.

Objectives: Primary objective was to determine the patient characteristics, and immediate- and short-term outcomes of intermediate-risk PTE, and the secondary objective was to evaluate the benefit of thrombolysis in normotensive PTE patients.

This paper aims to present a rare case report of bilateral pseudoaneurysm secondary to condylar fracture and its management with a brief review of literature. A patient of age 19 years with alleged history of road traffic accident presented 6 weeks lately to our department with slow growing swelling in right preauricular area. History revealed bilateral condylar fracture with right parasymphysis fracture of mandible for which patient underwent maxillomandibular fixation for 4 weeks.

Carnoy's solution (CS) is routinely used as adjuvant therapy in the management of odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) and a few other benign lesions. The purpose of this study was to explore the evidence of its application and efficacy in benign lesions other than OKC. We have systematically reviewed published articles to identify the evidence of CS in benign jaw lesions other than OKC following the PRISMA guidelines.

Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of amplitude-integrated EEG in term neonates with encephalopathy.

Methods: In this prospective observational study we enrolled 58 term neonates with encephalopathy from March, 2019 to March, 2020. Level of alertness was ascertained as per Volpe's classification and tone as per Amiel-Tison scale of tone assessment.

Dietary nutrients absorbed in the proximal small intestine and assimilated in different tissues have a profound effect on overall energy homeostasis, determined by a balance between body's energy intake and expenditure. In obesity, altered intestinal absorption and consequently tissue assimilation of nutrients may disturb the energy balance leading to metabolic abnormalities at the cellular level. The absorption of nutrients such as sugars, amino acids and fatty acids released from food digestion require high-capacity transporter proteins expressed in the intestinal epithelial absorptive cells.

Aim: The objective of the study was to assess the efficacy of xenograft (BIO-OSS) and platelet-rich fibrin in maxillary sinus augmentation using lateral window approach.

Materials And Methods: A total of 22 direct sinus lifts were done within a period of two years, and the results were analyzed using two parameters: (1) augmented bone height and (2) bone density in the maxillary sinus. Pre-operative and three-month CT scan was taken for all the 22 patients.

In obesity, increased absorption of dietary fat contributes to altered lipid homeostasis. In turn, dyslipidemia of obesity leads to many of the complications of obesity. Bile acids are necessary for the absorption of dietary fat.

Herein, a novel one step synthesis of multicomponent three dimensional polyacrylic acid (PAA) based conducting hydrogel (CH) incorporated with iron phthalocyanine functionalised graphene nanoplatelets (GPL-FePc) is reported. An amperometric glucose biosensor was fabricated by the immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOx) onto the synthesised PAA-VS-PANI/GPL-FePc-CH (where VS-PANI is vinyl substituted polyaniline). Scanning electron microscopy reveals the presence of three dimensional microporous structure with estimated pore size of 19 μm.

During obesity, diabetes and hypertension inevitably coexist and cause innumerable health disparities. In the obesity, diabetes, and hypertension triad (ODHT), deregulation of glucose and NaCl homeostasis, respectively, causes diabetes and hypertension. In the mammalian intestine, glucose is primarily absorbed by Na-glucose cotransport 1 (SGLT1) and coupled NaCl by the dual operation of Na-H exchange 3 (NHE3) and Cl-HCO [down-regulated in adenoma (DRA) or putative anion transporter 1 (PAT1)] exchange in the brush border membrane (BBM) of villus cells.

Na-amino acid co-transporters (NaAAcT) are uniquely affected in rabbit intestinal villus cell brush border membrane (BBM) during chronic intestinal inflammation. Specifically, Na-alanine co-transport (ASCT1) is inhibited secondary to a reduction in the affinity of the co-transporter for alanine, whereas Na-glutamine co-transport (B0AT1) is inhibited secondary to a reduction in BBM co-transporter numbers. During chronic intestinal inflammation, there is abundant production of the potent oxidant peroxynitrite (OONO).

The colon cancer is formed by uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells in large intestine or colon that can affect both men and women and it is third cancer disease in the world. At present, Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) screening method is utilized to identify colon cancer tumor at early stage to save the patient life who affected by the colon cancer. In this CTC method, the radiologist needs to analyze the colon polyps in digital image using computer aided approach with accurate automatic tumor classification to detect the cancer tumor at early stage.

During chronic intestinal inflammation in rabbit intestinal villus cells brush border membrane (BBM) Na-glucose co-transport (SGLT1), but not Na/H exchange (NHE3) is inhibited. The mechanism of inhibition is secondary to a decrease in the number of BBM co-transporters. In the chronic enteritis mucosa, inducible nitric oxide (iNO) and superoxide production are known to be increased and together they produce abundant peroxynitrite (OONO), a potent oxidant.
