Acute heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) patients present a myriad of anticoagulation management challenges, in clinical settings where unfractionated heparin (UFH) is the traditional drug of choice. UFH use in cardiac surgery is a known entity that has been subject to rigorous research.
