Feasibility of Telecardiology Solution to Connect Rural Health Clinics to a Teaching Hospital.

Background: In spite of enormous progress in cardiac care in India, rural communities lack access to even basic cardiac care. One possible solution to this problem is to employ telecardiology.

Objectives: To demonstrate feasibility of telecardiology system to link rural clinics to a teaching hospital.

Identification, isolation and characterization of a new impurity in drug substance resulting from stress stability studies.

A new unknown impurity of cefoxitin formed during a gradient reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of stress stability samples of the drug substance cefoxitin, and the level of this impurity was found at up to 0.9%. This impurity was identified by LC-MS and characterized by (1H NMR, 13C NMR, LC/MS/MS, elemental analysis and FT-IR).

Primary cutaneous mucormycosis (zygomycosis) caused by Apophysomyces elegans.

A 53 year-old male diabetic presented with a month-old, painful ulcer with necrotic margins over the right thigh. Wound debridement was done twice and the ulcer showed recurrent growth of a white, cottony filamentous structure. Cutaneous mucormycosis was suspected and confirmed by histopathology and a culture isolate of Apophysomyces elegans .
