Background: The effectiveness of adjunctive perampanel has not been systematically assessed in seizure types other than its approved indications of focal seizures and primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures (PGTCS) in idiopathic generalised epilepsies (IGEs).

Objective: We aimed to identify and review available evidence on outcomes with perampanel in generalised seizures and epilepsies to examine its potential as a broad-spectrum anti-seizure medication.

Methods: Bibliographic databases of publications, clinical trials, and conference abstracts were searched up to August 2020 to identify studies reporting seizure or safety outcomes in patients of any age, with any type of epilepsy-associated generalised seizures treated with perampanel.

Heme, a biomolecule with complex structure and unique properties and strong adsorption of oxygen, is utilized as an adsorbing material for haloalkene gas molecules. It has been systematically investigated employing density functional theory. Among the haloalkene gases chosen in the present study, the interaction energy is maximum for CDFM (-10.

Multi-redox catalysis requires the accumulation of more than one charge carrier and is crucial for solar energy conversion into fuels and valuable chemicals. In photo(electro)chemical systems, however, the necessary accumulation of multiple, long-lived charges is challenged by recombination with their counterparts. Herein, we investigate charge accumulation in two model multi-redox molecular catalysts for proton and CO reduction attached onto mesoporous TiO electrodes.

This study is a retrospective review of patients 5-17 years of age experiencing seclusion and/or restraint (S&R) in a pediatric psychiatric inpatient setting and an exploratory analysis of antipsychotic use on S&R duration. We examined whether administration of antipsychotics would possibly decrease the time spent in S&R. Reports of patients who underwent S&R in an acute care inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit from 2012 to 2014 were reviewed.

Background: A significant number of people with autism require in-patient psychiatric care. Although the requirement to adequately meet the needs of people with autism in these settings is enshrined in UK law and supported by national guidelines, little information is available on current practice.

Aims: To describe characteristics of UK in-patient psychiatric settings admitting people with autism.

The photovoltaic (PV) for irrigation system is an emerging technology to harness the solar energy. The performance of the PV modules depends on the incident solar radiation, geographical location, and the surface temperature of the modules. The performance of the PV system needs to be monitored by manually or embedded controllers.

Three new zinc phosphites, [HIm][Zn(HPO)] (), [Zn(HPO)Im] (), and [Zn(HPO)Im] () (Im = imidazole), have been synthesized from the hydro/solvothermal reaction of zinc acetate, dimethyl phosphite, and imidazole by varying the temperature and solvent of the reaction medium. The structure of is built from vertex-sharing of four HPO-capped ZnP units and adopts an open framework with 12-ring channels stabilized by HIm cations via N-H···O hydrogen bonds. For , the inorganic skeleton is comprised of alternating ZnO and HPO tetrahedra, while the coordinatively associated ZnNO fragments occupy the 12-ring hexagonal channels.

Background: Management of community-acquired urinary tract infection (CA-UTI) relies heavily on empirical antibiotic therapy. Knowledge of the proportion of drug-resistant isolates especially extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing  (), and various risk factors for acquisition are essential.

Method:  Outpatient-treated CA-UTI cases were enrolled (continuously for three months), and microbiological analysis of urine sample was performed for significant bacterial growth followed by identification of conventional and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-ToF) spectrometry method.

Article Synopsis
  • Metastatic hydatid disease occurs when a hydatid cyst ruptures and releases contents into the bloodstream, leading to embolization in the lungs.
  • A patient who had surgery for a hydatid cyst in the right ventricular wall in 2014 developed multiple embolised cysts in pulmonary artery branches by 2017.
  • Despite medical treatment following surgery, the patient's condition only partially improved, suggesting current treatments may not be fully effective.

Modifying the structures and doping are proven to be effective methods to tune the structural and electrical properties of g-CN quantum dots. Hence, in this study, tri-s-triazine and tri-nitro tri-s-triazine have been studied by functionalizing their edges with hydrogen. The H-functionalized tri-nitro tri-s-triazine quantum dot displays a buckled structure with a band gap of 1.

Objective: To examine demographic characteristics of patients who experience seclusion and restraint (S&R) events in a pediatric psychiatric inpatient setting and assess whether sleep time 24 hours prior and after the occurrence of an S&R event was different from average sleep time during hospitalization.

Methods: Charts from an acute care inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit from 2012 to 2014 were reviewed. A paired samples t test was performed to look for significant differences in sleep time 24 hours prior to S&R versus average sleep times for the same patients during hospitalization.

The world's population has been evolving rapidly; every country in the world is facing this drastic progression in the number and the percentage of the elderly in their net population. As the chronological age advances, physiological and psychosocial decline will be evident among all older adults. The potentially relevant literature was identified using appropriate search terms in electronic databases such as PubMed MEDLINE, Scopus, ProQuest, Web of Science, CINAHL, IndMed, and Google Scholar.
