The correct orientation of the occlusal plane is the first and one of the important steps while recording jaw relationships in an edentulous patient. One of the most popular methods is to orient the occlusal plane to interpupillary line anteriorly and ala-tragus lines posteriorly which is usually accomplished by repetitive adjustment of the maxillary rim until a hand-held Fox's plane appears to be parallel to these lines. However, this process is time-consuming and error-prone.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of varying layers of two commercially available die spacers on pre-cementation space of full coverage restorations in vitro and in vivo. Seven dies were prepared for each of 15 subjects. Treatment included extraction of teeth with poor prognosis, root canal treatment and crown lengthening of severely worn out teeth & full coverage porcelain-fused-to metal fixed restoration of entire dentition. The main objectives of the selected treatment were to enhance the esthetics, restore masticatory function and eliminate the teeth sensitivity.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The aim of this in-vitro investigation was to describe the effect of reinforcement with different fibers on impact strength of heat polymerized polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base resin and to analyze the effect of surface treatment of the fibers on the impact strength.
Materials And Methods: The specimens were fabricated from the dies formed as per standard ASTM D4812. 2% by weight of glass, polyethylene and polypropylene fibers were incorporated in the PMMA resin.
In fixed prosthodontic procedures, when it has been determined that restoration of all or most of the posterior teeth is necessary, the use of the Broderick occlusal plane analyzer provides an easy and practical method to determine an occlusal plane that will fulfill esthetic and functional occlusion requirements. However, several manufacturers of semiadjustable articulators offer no such occlusal plane analyzers for use with these instruments. This article demonstrates the use of a custom-made Broderick occlusal plane analyzer with a semiadjustable articulator to determine the correct curve of Spee for the occlusal plane.
