Charge-transfer reactions in proteins are important for life, such as in photolyases which repair DNA, but the role of structural dynamics remains unclear. Here, using femtosecond X-ray crystallography, we report the structural changes that take place while electrons transfer along a chain of four conserved tryptophans in the Drosophila melanogaster (6-4) photolyase. At femto- and picosecond delays, photoreduction of the flavin by the first tryptophan causes directed structural responses at a key asparagine, at a conserved salt bridge, and by rearrangements of nearby water molecules.

The CDC7 kinase could serve as a target for therapeutic intervention in cancer. The primary heterocyclic substance is pyrazole, and its derivatives offer great potential as treatments for cancer cell lines.

We observe how a conserved asparigine moves towards the semiquinone FAD chromophore and stabilizes it by hydrogen bonding. Several amino acids around the final tryptophan radical rearrange, opening it up to the solvent.

A novel series of benzothiazole-rhodanine derivatives (A1-A10) were designed and synthesized, with the aim of developing possible antidiabetic agents and the spectral characterization of these compounds was done using infrared spectroscopy (IR), proton-nuclear magnetic resonance ( H-NMR), carbon-nuclear magnetic resonance (C -NMR), and high resolution mass spectroscopy (HR-MS) techniques. In vitro hypoglycemic potential of the compounds was evaluated by performing α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzyme inhibitory assays. In addition, these compounds were subjected to in silico analysis.

There are several drug targets which are reported to control the severe level of AD; notably, acetylcholinesterase, β-Secretase and glycogen synthase kinase enzymes are approached as a good drug targets for AD. Hence, the present study mainly focused to discover newly synthesized molecule (7-propyl-6H-pyrano[3,2-c:5,6-c']dichromene-6,8(7H)-dione) as a potential triplet acting drug for above said enzymes through the analysis of X-ray crystallography, molecular docking, molecular dynamics and quantum chemical calculation.

The current study evaluates antidiabetic, anticoagulant, and antiplatelet activity of novel benzimidazole-containing quinolinyl oxadiazoles. These derivatives are synthesized and characterized using spectroscopy (FT-IR, H NMR, and mass spectroscopy) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The inhibitory effects of these compounds were evaluated by the α-glucosidase inhibitory assay and shows the activity in the range of IC = 0.

ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, also known as traffic ATPases, form a large family of integral membrane proteins responsible for the translocation of a variety of chemically diverse substrates across the lipid bilayers of cellular membranes of both prokaryotes and eukaryotes by the hydrolysis of ATP. The ATP-binding subunit of an ABC transporter from Geobacillus kaustophilus, a homodimeric enzyme, was overexpressed in Escherichia coli and purified. Crystals were obtained using the microbatch-under-oil method at 291 K.
