Electroacupuncture of scalp acupoint alleviates cerebral ischemic inflammatory injury by down-regulating RORγt and promoting balance of IL-17ATh17/FOXP3Treg in MCAO rats.

Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) of scalp acupoint (Dingnieqian-xiexian, MS6) on expression of retinoid-related orphan receptor γT (ROR γ t), interleukin (IL)-17A, IL-10, transfor-ming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), IL-6, IL-21, and IL-17A Thelper cells(Th) 17 and forkhead transcription factor P3 (FOXP3) regulatory T cells (Treg) differentiation of ischemic cortex in ischemic stroke rats, so as to explore its molecular mechanisms underlying relief of inflammatory injury of ischemic stroke.

Methods: A total of 120 male SD rats were randomly assigned to sham operation, model, EA, inhibitor, agonist and EA+agonist groups, with 15 rats in each group. The ischemic stroke model was established by occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery according to Longa's methods.

Tandem Quantification of Multiple Carbohydrates in Saliva Using Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy.

The detection of carbohydrates in human body fluids is critical for disease diagnosis and healthy monitoring. Despite recent advances in glucose sensing, multiplex detection of different carbohydrates within a single assay that is capable of efficiently providing richer health information remains challenging. Herein, we report a versatile surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy-based platform for the quantitative detection of monosaccharides (glucose, fructose, and galactose) in one test using a displace-and-trap mechanism.

Comparison of Wide-Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet With General Anesthesia With Tourniquet for Volar Plating of Distal Radius Fracture.

Wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) is used for various hand surgeries, but there are no reports of its use for distal radius fractures. The authors compared perioperative variables and clinical outcomes for volar plating for distal radius fractures with WALANT vs general anesthesia with tourniquet. This retrospective study included 47 patients who presented with distal radius fractures between January 2015 and February 2017.

Organometallic-Constructed Tip-Based Dual Chemical Sensing by Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Diabetes Detection.

Tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) is capable of probing specific molecular information with high sensitivity, but dual chemical sensing remains a challenge. Another major hindrance to TERS chemical detection in biosamples such as blood is the interference from the strong absorptions of biomolecules. Herein, we report the preparation of an organometallic-conjugated TERS tip.
