: In chronic hepatitis B infection (CHB), the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) continuously exhausts the hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb), which leads to the formation of immune tolerance. Accordingly, the hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection can be blocked by inhibiting the binding of the hepatitis B surface pre-S1/pre-S2 antigen to the hepatocyte receptor NTCP, but the clinical cure rate of pre-S-based vaccines for CHB is limited. : In this study, we designed and prepared multivalent hepatitis B therapeutic mRNA vaccines encoding three hepatitis B surface antigen proteins (L, M, and S) at the cell membrane, verified via in vitro transfection and expression experiments.

Transformed from p-phenylenediamines (PPDs) antioxidant, PPD-derived quinones (PPD-Qs) have recently been recognized as emerging contaminants due to their potential negative impacts on the environment and human health. While there have been measurements of airborne PPD-Qs, the size distribution of PPD-Qs and the impact of particle size on PPD transformation chemistry remain largely unknown. Here, through the measurements of atmospheric particles in three megacities in China (Beijing, Xi'an, and Hefei), we find that PPD-Qs are widely distributed in these cities.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) finds wide application in disinfection, chemical production, and bleaching owing to its sustainability and ease of storage compared to hydrogen. However, the current industrial engineering practices for producing photocatalysts used in HO generation face challenges such as low yields with organic catalysts and high costs associated with inorganic catalysts. In light of these challenges, we investigate a viable method utilizing a simple condensation reflux technique to synthesize pure organic heterojunction photocatalysts featuring a π-π stacked structure derived from graphitized carbon nitride (melem) and meso-tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin, enabling efficient HO production without the necessity of sacrificial agents.

In the zoo of emergent symmetries in quantum many-body physics, the previously unrealized emergent spacetime supersymmetry (SUSY) is particularly intriguing. Although it was known that spacetime SUSY could emerge at the (1+1)d tricritical Ising transition, an experimental realization is still absent. In this Letter, we propose to realize emergent spacetime SUSY using reconfigurable Rydberg atom arrays featuring two distinct sets of Rydberg excitations, tailored for implementation on dual-species platforms.

Solar-driven interfacial evaporation is an efficient approach to addressing water scarcity due to its environmental sustainability. However, the prolonged use of solar evaporators causes microbial contamination from wastewater. Inspired by the antifouling properties of polydopamine, we develop a series of mono- and dual-metal-loaded poly(norepinephrine) (PNE) nanoparticles by pre-doping multiple metal ions.

Article Synopsis
  • Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in early Parkinson's disease (ePD) shows unique topological features in the brain's network, but understanding these is hampered by challenges like identifying the correct frequency bands and fixed window settings in network analysis.
  • A convolutional neural network is used to identify 1-4 Hz as a key frequency band for detecting MCI in ePD.
  • Analysis of the occipital lobe reveals decreased clustering coefficient, global efficiency, and local efficiency, indicating poor connectivity and communication within the brain network, which may serve as a marker for ePD-MCI.

Introduction: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a prevalent comorbidity among patients with end-stage kidney disease. Although sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors are validated in treating heart failure and ameliorating left ventricular hypertrophy among non-dialysis patients, the effects on dialysis patients are unknown. We previously investigated the pharmacokinetics of henagliflozin in patients undergoing haemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) and clarified its safety.

Realizing topological orders and topological quantum computation is a central task of modern physics. An important but notoriously hard question in this endeavor is how to diagnose topological orders that lack conventional order parameters. A breakthrough in this problem is the discovery of topological entanglement entropy, which can be used to detect nontrivial topological order from a ground state wave function, but is far from enough for fully determining the topological order.
