Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are the main metabolites of certain colonic anaerobic bacterial fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract and have been found to be the key metabolites in the host of CVDs. Accumulating evidence suggest that the end-products of SCFAs (including acetate, propionate, and butyrate) interact with CVDs through maintaining intestinal integrity, anti-inflammation, modulating glucolipid metabolism, blood pressure, and activating gut-brain axis.

Glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity is an important mechanism leading to post ischemic stroke damage. After acute stroke, the sudden reduction in cerebral blood flow is most initially followed by ion transport protein dysfunction and disruption of ion homeostasis, which in turn leads to impaired glutamate release, reuptake, and excessive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) activation, promoting neuronal death. Despite extensive evidence from preclinical studies suggesting that excessive NMDAR stimulation during ischemic stroke is a central step in post-stroke damage, NMDAR blockers have failed to translate into clinical stroke treatment.

Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of a percutaneous revascularization strategy that is based on the use of drug-coated balloon for the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome and de novo Medina type 0,1,0 or 0,0,1 left main stem bifurcation lesions.

Methods: In this multicenter, prospective, proof-of-concept study, patients fulfilling the above criteria were enrolled and received treatment with drug-coated balloon combined with provisional drug-eluting stent implantation in the proximal major branches of the left main stem. Patients who declined this revascularization approach were treated with drug-eluting stent implantation 1-2 mm distally to the left anterior descending or left circumflex artery ostium followed by drug-coated balloon therapy for the ostial disease.

The effect of soybean peptides from fermented soybean meal on the intestinal immunity and tight junction of broilers was assessed. Roughly, two-stage fermented soybean meal prepared with Bv and Lb (FSBM), which has nearly three times higher soluble peptides than soybean meal (SBM), and reduced galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) content and allergen protein. The optical properties of carbon nanoscrolls in the presence of uniform electric fields are investigated by using gradient approximation. Absorption spectra exhibit rich prominent peaks structures, which is caused by one-dimensional sub-bands. The numbers, spectral intensities, and energies of the absorption peaks are strongly dependent on the geometry and the electric field strength.
