Article Synopsis
  • - Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) causes joint inflammation and pain, mainly affecting the metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints, with treatment typically combining biological medications and steroids.
  • - An experimental study used gingerol-loaded nanoparticles to improve RA treatment in rats, assessing the effects through various inflammatory markers and gene expression after 21 days of oral administration.
  • - Results showed significant changes in inflammatory gene levels between the treated and control groups, indicating that the gingerol nanoparticles had enhanced therapeutic effects for RA.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the anti-arthritic activity of leaves' and roots' hydroalcoholic extracts in Complete Freund's adjuvant-induced arthritis in Wistar rats.

Materials And Methods: HPLC and FT-IR analysis detected pharmacologically important phytocompounds in both plant extracts. Oral treatments including methotrexate (MTX; 3 mg/kg twice a week) and extracts at 250 and 500 mg/kg/day were initiated after arthritis induction.
