Bacillaenes are a class of poly-unsaturated enamines produced by strains that are notoriously unstable toward light, oxygen, and normal temperature. Herein, in an in-depth study of this highly unstable chemotype, the stability and biological function of bacillaenes were investigated. The structure change of the bacillaene scaffold was tracked by time-course H NMR data analysis coupled with the differential analysis of 2D-NMR spectra method, which was demonstrated to be a "domino" effect triggered by 4',5'- ( and ) configuration rearranged to trans ( and ).

Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a) transcription factor, the most important member of Forkhead box O family, is closely related to cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, oxidative stress and aging. The downregulation of FOXO3a has been verified to be associated with the poor prognosis, severer malignancy and chemoresistance in several human cancers. The activity of FOXO3a mainly regulated by phosphorylation of protein kinase B.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was treated by operation and chemoradiotherapy. However, the prognosis of most patients is poor after treatment, and most studies have shown that FGF2 and its receptor (FGFR) are involved in the development of various malignant tumors. FGF2 plays an important role in tumor progression and malignancy.

Objective: There is still an unmet need for a simple and reliable biomarker for the diagnosis of spondyloarthritis. Recent studies indicated that anti-CD74 antibody could act as a biomarker for spondyloarthritis. Therefore, this review aims to evaluate the levels of anti-CD74 IgG and IgA antibodies in spondyloarthritis and the diagnostic value of anti-CD74 antibodies.

Our study aimed to identify the effects of low-dose corticosteroids on the recovery of children with MPP. In this retrospective cohort study, pediatric inpatients with MPP were included from the Shanghai Children's Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia cohort study between August 2014 and July 2019.

Platinum-based combination chemotherapy is still the standard treatment for advanced lung cancer. However, the clinical efficacy of this treatment can be affected by its adverse reactions, especially gastrointestinal mucositis.

Traditional nanoparticles rely primarily on the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect in well-vascularized tumors. In this study, a macrophage-based carrier is designed to enhance the efficiency of targeting to recurrent tumors through a "dual-guide" strategy.

Objective: To observe the effect of acupoint application therapy at different timing points on the gastrointestinal function recovery and heart rate variability (HRV) after laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer under the instruction of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS).
Methods: A total of 105 patients for the selective laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer were selected and randomized into a preoperative acupoint application group (35 cases, 3 cases dropped off), a postoperative acupoint application group (35 cases, 1 case dropped out) and a control group (35 cases, 2 cases dropped off). In the control group, ERAS interventions were provided, such as health education, fluid supplementation and multi-mode analgesia.

Objective: There is still an unmet need for a simple and reliable biomarker for diagnosis and disease activity of spondyloarthritis. Recent studies indicated that calprotectin could act as a biomarker for spondyloarthritis. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the levels of serum and fecal calprotectin in spondyloarthritis and the associations with disease activity.

This study investigated the effects of polyethylene oxide (PEO) on the electrospinning of hyaluronic acid (HA) in HA/PEO aqueous solutions. The rheological properties of HA/PEO aqueous solutions showed polymer chain entanglement in HA was the essential factor affecting its electrospinnability.

Objective: In this study, mouse hippocampus-derived neuronal HT22 cells were used to investigate whether melatonin protects the hippocampus from hydrogen peroxide (HO)-induced injury by regulating autophagy.
Background: Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) has been shown to be effective for achalasia patients. Our study aimed to analyze the clinical outcomes of POEM for challenging patients.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 278 challenging achalasia patients who underwent POEM from January 2011 to July 2019.
There is little evidence about the impact of birth month on total and cardiovascular disease mortality in developing countries. We evaluated these associations using the population health registration data of Hefei City, China from 2014 to 2017. After controlling for the fixed effects of gender, education, and occupation, we fitted the Cox proportional hazard regression model to assess the relationship between birth month and mortality.

Background: Okur-Chung neurodevelopmental syndrome (OCNDS) and tricho-rhino-phalangeal syndrome type I (TRPSI) are rare Mendelian diseases. OCNDS is caused by CSNK2A1 gene variants and TRPSI is caused by the TRPS1gene. However, to have two Mendelian diseases in one patient is even rarer.
