Introduction: There is a lack of reliable predictors of disease behavior progression in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). Real-time shear-wave elastography (SWE) is a novel method for evaluating tissue stiffness. However, its value for assessing CD has not yet been investigated.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the most common nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, and recurrence and metastasis are still difficult problems in its current treatment. This study aimed to investigate the effect of SUMO modification of STAT1 protein on the proliferation and invasion of NPC, and to reveal the underlying mechanism. Two gene expression profiles (GSE12452 and GSE53819) of 49 nasopharyngeal carcinomas and 28 normal controls were analyzed to identify differentially expressed genes.

Simultaneous inhibition of more than one target is considered to be a novel strategy in cancer therapy. Owing to the importance of histone deacetylases (HDACs) and p53-murine double minute 2 (MDM2) interaction in tumor development and their synergistic effects, a series of MDM2/HDAC bifunctional small-molecule inhibitors were rationally designed and synthesized by incorporating an HDAC pharmacophore into spirooxindole skeletons. These compounds exhibited good inhibitory activities against both targets.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between anemia and restenosis in patients with femoropopliteal arterial disease following drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty.

Methods: 194 patients treated with DCB for femoropopliteal lesions were retrospectively analyzed for up to 12 months of follow-up between January 2017 and September 2020. Baseline clinical and procedural characteristics were compared between the anemia and non-anemia patients, and predictors of restenosis were identified using logistic regression.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial cancer emerging from the lining of nasopharyngeal mucosa, with extremely frequent occurrence in east and southeast Asia. For the purpose of exploring roles of the dysregulated long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in NPC, we identified a novel lncRNA LINC00669 with an apparent negative correlation to the overall survival from human NPC mRNA expression profiling databases. We further performed RNA pulldown coupled with mass spectrum to find out its target protein, and applied a series of in vitro and in vivo loss-and-gain-of function assays to investigate its oncogenic roles in NPC tumor development and progression.

Intestinal fibrosis and subsequent stricture formation are major clinical challenges in inflammatory bowel disease, resulting in an increased rate of operation and poor prognosis compared with those without. With the changing perception that intestinal fibrosis is irreversible to the point of view that it is reversible in recent years, various candidate serum biomarkers have been studied over the past decades, which may stratify patients based on their risks of developing stenosis and enable the detection of early stages of fibrosis. However, reliable and accurate biomarkers are still unavailable due to conflicting results and the lack of high-quality evidence.

Lung adenocarcinoma is a form of non-small-cell lung cancer with high mortality in the advanced stages, and is one of the most common histological subtypes of lung cancer in most countries. Prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma is generally poor, with a median survival of 4-13 months. We report a case of unusually prolonged survival of a patient with advanced lung adenocarcinoma complicated by hypothyroidism.

Objectives: Although diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is reported to be accurate in detecting bowel inflammation in Crohn's disease (CD), its ability to assess bowel fibrosis remains unclear. This study assessed the role of DWI in the characterization of bowel fibrosis using surgical histopathology as the reference standard.

Methods: Abdominal DWI was performed before elective surgery in 30 consecutive patients with CD.
