We investigated the involvement of microRNA-433 (miR-433) in the proliferation, migration, and invasiveness of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Totally 108 OSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues from patients with OSCC were collected. Also, transplanted tumor formation experiment in nude mice was conducted to verify the effect of miR-433 and FAK on subcutaneous transplanted tumor.

This study investigates the protective effects of miR-431 against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury through the Rho/Rho-kinase signaling pathway. SD rats were randomly classified into normal, sham, and model (middle cerebral artery occluded) groups. Rho expression and cerebral infarction were visualized by immunohischemistry and TTC staining, respectively.

The present study was to investigate the effect of lncRNA LINC00880 targeting CACNG5 on cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis in spinal cord ependymoma (SCE) through the MAPK signaling pathway. GEO database was used to download gene expression data related with SCE (GSE50161 and GSE66354) and annotation file. LncRNA with differential expression was predicted by Multi Experiment Matrix website (MEM).

2,2,4,4-Tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47), one of the persistent organic pollutants, seriously influences the quality of life; however, its pathological mechanism remains unclear. Troxerutin is a flavonoid with pharmacological activity of antioxidation and anti-inflammation. In the present study, we investigated troxerutin against BDE-47-induced kidney cell apoptosis and explored the underlying mechanism.

In the present work, a prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) setup, which consists of a 300mCi Americium-Beryllium (Am-Be) neutron source and a 4 × 4-in. Bismuth germanium oxide (BGO) detector, was developed for heavy metal detection in aqueous solutions. A series of standard samples with analytical purity were prepared by dissolving heavy metals in deionized water.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) has been associated with deterioration of bone microarchitecture and strength, resulting in increased fracture risk. Substantial studies have revealed the capacity of moderate-intensity static magnetic fields (SMF) on promoting osteoblastogenesis in vitro and stimulating bone growth and bone regeneration in vivo, whereas it is unknown whether SMF can resist T1DM-associated osteopenia/osteoporosis. We herein investigated the potential effects of whole-body SMF exposure with 4mT on bone loss in streptozotocin-induced T1DM rats.

Arsenic trioxide (ATO) is a well-accepted chemotherapy agent in managing promyelocytic leukemia. ATO often causes severe health hazards such as hepatotoxicity, dermatosis, neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and cardiotoxicity. The production of reactive oxygen species, (ROS) play a significant role in ATO-induced hepatotoxicity.

This study aims to explore whether microRNA-381 (miR-381) mediating CXCR4 affects the renal tubular epithelial cells (RTEC) of renal ischemia reperfusion (I/R) injury. Forty-eight rats were assigned into the I/R (n = 24, successfully established as I/R model) and sham (n = 24) groups. After collecting kidney tissues, immunohistochemistry, and microvascular density (MVD) counting were conducted for CXCR4 positive expression and MVD numbers.

Objective: To explore the molecular mechanism of resistance to imatinib in K562 cells(K562-R) and the anti-proliferative effect of oridonin (OR), as well as its mechanism in imatinib-sensitive and imatinib-resistant K562 cells (K562-S and K562-R cells).

Methods: The expression of p-Lyn in K562-S and K562-R cells were detected by Western blot. The anti-proliferative effect of OR in K562-S and K562-R cells was assayed by MTT, the morphological changes were examined with microscope, the cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry, the expressions of BCL-2 and Akt/mTOR signaling pathway were detected by Western blot.

Disruption of the blood-brain barrier associated with endothelial dysfunction is an important hallmark of Parkinson's disease (PD). 6-Hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) is a synthetic dopamine derivate often used to model PD as it results in retrograde degeneration of striatal dopaminergic (DA) terminals. Presently, the effects of 6-OHDA on endothelial dysfunction remain unknown.

Cor pulmonale rat models were induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of monocrotaline(MCT), and the sham group received a single intraperitioneal injection of normal saline. After the model rats received intragastric administration of Qishen Yiqi droplet(QS) for 6 weeks, the contents of adenylate(ATP, ADP and AMP) in right myocardial tissues were measured by HPLC, and then the metabolism changes in myocardium of cor pulmonale rats with QS were investigated. The results showed that ATP, ADP, and AMP were well separated, with a good linearity within a certain range of concentration; and the recovery rates were within the range of 90%-108%.

Backgrounds: There is still a lack of consensus about how to assess the risk of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR).

Aims: We investigated the risk factors for DR and their association with PAD and CVD in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Methods: A total of 1,421 patients diagnosed with T2D participated in this study.

Sepsis is a systemic infection that enhances host vulnerability to secondary infections normally controlled by T cells. Using CLP sepsis model, we observed that sepsis induces apoptosis of circulating memory CD8 T-cells (TCIRCM) and diminishes their effector functions, leading to impaired CD8 T-cell mediated protection to systemic pathogen re-infection. In the context of localized re-infections, tissue resident memory CD8 T-cells (TRM) provide robust protection in a variety of infectious models.

This case-control study investigated the association of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) receptor type I and II ( and ) gene polymorphisms with the risk of hypospadias in a Chinese population. One hundred and sixty two patients suffering from hypospadias were enrolled as case group and 165 children who underwent circumcision were recruited as control group. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in and genes were selected on the basis of genetic data obtained from HapMap.

Objective To investigate the vasodilative and endothelial-protective effects and the underlying mechanisms of total flavonoids from Astragalus (TFA). Methods The vasodilative activities of TFA were measured with a myograph ex vivo using rat superior mesenteric arterial rings. The primary human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) viabilities were assayed using the cell counting kit-8 after hypoxia or normoxia treatment with or without TFA.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of delivering sinomenine hydrochloride (SH) transdermally using composite dissolving microneedles (DM) which integrated with liquid crystals (H). The fabricated SH-loaded composite DM was evaluated for their appearance, mechanical strength, irritation, and efficiency of transdermal delivery of SH. Results depicted that optimized SH-loaded composite DM had sufficient mechanical strength to pierce into rat skin.
