Objectives: While the plausible role of ambient particulate matter (PM) exposure in tuberculosis (TB) reactivation has been inferred from experiments, epidemiologic evidence is lacking. We examined the relationship between ambient PM concentration and pulmonary TB (PTB) in an intermediate TB endemicity city dominated by reactivation diseases.
Methods: Spatio-temporal analyses were performed on TB notification data and satellite-based annual mean PM concentration in Hong Kong.
The COVID -19 pandemic impacted acute myocardial infarction (AMI) attendances, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treatments, and outcomes. We collated data from majority of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI)-capable public healthcare centres in Singapore to understand the initial impact COVID-19 had on essential time-critical emergency services. We present data comparisons from 'Before Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (DORSCON) Orange', 'DORSCON Orange to start of circuit breaker (CB)', and during the first month of 'CB'.

Methods: Older adults (65+) receiving home healthcare were included. Home healthcare nurses assisted in administering the eye-screening tool at participants' homes.
Background: An increasing aging population has become a pressing problem in many countries. Smart systems and intelligent technologies support aging in place, thereby alleviating the strain on health care systems.
Objective: This study aims to identify decision-making factors involved in the adoption of smart home sensors (SHS) by older adults in Singapore.
Background: Bet1 Golgi vesicular membrane trafficking protein-like (BET1L) rs2280543 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and diet have been independently associated with uterine leiomyoma (UL). However, whether the SNP and diet could jointly influence the risk of UL is yet to be assessed. Therefore, we investigated the independent and interactive effects of vegetarian diet and BET1L rs2280543 on uterine fibroids in Taiwanese women.

The management of diabetes mellitus in an insulin-dependent patient is challenging in the setting of concomitant antibody-mediated-insulin hypersensitivity. We report a case of a 62-year-old woman with pre-existing type 2 diabetes mellitus of 10 years duration who developed type 3 hypersensitivity reaction to insulin analogue detemir, and subsequently, severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). She was C-peptide negative and was diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes.

Aggressive T and NK/T-cell lymphoma are known to have a high risk of relapse and poor long-term prognosis. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been performed as part of consolidation or salvage treatment. We retrospectively studied the outcomes of autologous (A) and allogeneic (allo) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT) in aggressive T and NK/T-cell lymphoma at our center between 2010 to 2020.

Patients And Methods: This single-blind, prospective, randomized-controlled study included a total of 20 patients (8 males, 12 females; mean age: 53.5±13.
Background: In rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovitis, activation of synoviocytes and infiltration of adaptive immune cells leads to synovial hyperplasia and joint swelling. Under the elevated extra-neural pressure, free nerve endings release neuropeptides, calcitonin gene-related peptide, and substance P, thus promoting neurogenic inflammation.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of therapeutic neural mobilization (NM) exercises targeting the nervous system on disease impact in RA patients.
The Health Sciences Authority launched a pharmacogenetics initiative in 2008 to facilitate evaluation of pharmacogenetics associations pertinent for Chinese, Malays and Indians in Singapore. The aim was to reduce the incidence and unpredictability of serious adverse drug reactions, with a focus on serious skin adverse drug reactions. This paper describes the gathering of evidence and weighing of factors that led to different genotyping recommendations for HLA-B*15:02 with carbamazepine and HLA-B*58:01 with allopurinol, despite both having strong genetic associations.
