Comparative evaluation of push-out bond strength of AH-Plus, MTA-Fillapex and Epiphany SE root canal sealers: An study.

Background: A successful root canal (RC) treatment depends upon creation of a fluid impervious seal that is commonly built by using a RC sealer along with gutta-percha. The bond strength of the RC sealer is a hallmark as it will minimize the risk of treatment failure by reducing the possibility of filling detachment from dentin.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the push-out bond strength of AH-Plus and MTA-Fillapex with Gutta-Percha and Epiphany Self Etch/Resilon system using the Universal Testing Machine.

Comparative evaluation of tooth surface roughness caused by three different powered toothbrushes and a novel manual toothbrush -An SEM and AFM study.

Background: Toothbrush is the most frequently used tool for mechanical plaque control. Variety of manual and powered toothbrushes are available in the market, and it is often a dilemma for a common man that which one to choose among the wide range. Thus, the purpose of the present study was to evaluate and compare the tooth surface roughness caused by three different powered toothbrushes.

Gingival fibromatosis with congenital hypertrichosis.

Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis is a slowly progressive proliferative fibrous lesion of the gingival tissue, leading to functional, esthetic, and psychological difficulties. This entity is mainly associated with hypertrichosis and epilepsy either as an isolated disorder or as part of a syndrome. We present a case report of a female with severe generalized gingival fibromatosis and hypertrichosis which was treated by conventional gingivectomies under local anesthesia.

Prevalence of periodontitis in patients with pulmonary disease: A cross-sectional survey in the industrial district of India.

Background: Evidence state that periodontitis may have a contributory role in the onset and progression of pulmonary diseases. However, very limited data are available till date, studying the coexistence of both the conditions.

Evaluation and comparison of hydroxyapatite crystals with collagen fibrils bone graft alone and in combination with guided tissue regeneration membrane.

Background: The combination of collagen in bone grafts is being used because of its properties that accentuate the degree of regeneration. Furcation involvement poses challenge to the prognosis of a tooth, the use of bone grafts and a combination of grafts and membranes have proved to be beneficial in the treatment of furcation defects. Thus, the aim of the present study was to clinically evaluate and compare the effectiveness of collagen fiber bone graft with and without a membrane in the treatment of mandibular Grade II furcation defects.

Hemangioma-like telangiectatic granuloma: A diagnostic pitfall.

A telangiectatic granuloma is a localized reactive lesion associated with prolonged irritation to the soft tissues. It may be misdiagnosed as a vascular malformation, hemangiomas, angiosarcomas, etc; as clinical presentation of the lesions resembles each other. Here, we present a case of asymptomatic swelling in the maxilla of a 17-year old female patient.

Platelet rich fibrin (Prf) and β-tricalcium phosphate with coronally advanced flap for the management of grade-II furcation defect.

Background: Multirooted teeth offer unique and challenging problems due to the furcation area, creates situations in which routine periodontal procedures are somewhat limited and special procedures are generally required.

Case Detail: The present case was showing the management of grade II furcation defect by platelet rich fibrin (PRF) and β-Tricalcium phosphate with coronally advanced flap.

Conclusion: Platelet rich fibrin and β-Tricalcium phosphate with coronally advanced flap have been shown to be a promising and successful approach for the treatment of furcation defect.
