A study of the diagnostic value of Inhibin A Tests for occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women.

Background: Hypertensive disorders are common during pregnancy, and are among 3 important causes of maternal death. Preeclampsia occurs in 3 to 5% of pregnancies. Early diagnosis of this disorder can lead to better pregnancy outcomes.

Association of codon 10 polymorphism of the transforming growth factor beta 1 gene with prostate cancer and hyperplasia in an Iranian population.

Introduction: Genetic polymorphisms in codons 10 of the transforming growth factor beta(1) (TGF-beta(1)) gene TGFB1 have been shown to be associated with the production of high or low TGF-beta(1) levels. The role of this polymorphism in the development of prostate cancer and hyperplasia was investigated.

Subjects And Methods: Using the allele-specific oligonucleotide polymerase chain reaction method, the association between the polymorphism at codon 10 of the TGFB1 gene and the risk of prostate cancer (PCa) or benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) was determined.

Epstein-Barr viral infection in renal allograft recipients: a single center experience.

In this study we attempted to identify the factors involved in Epstein-Barr viral (EBV) infection among renal allograft recipients. We studied 68 renal allograft recipients hospitalized at the Imam Khomeini Medical Center from 2001 to 2004. Blood samples were obtained from the patients before renal transplantation and repeated every 3 months during the first year after transplantation.
