A nanoemulsion system was designed for Atorvastatin calcium (ATOR) transdermal delivery to overcome its poor bioavailability of (30%) resulting from the extensive first-pass effect and dissolution rate-limited in vivo absorption. Pseudo ternary phase diagrams were developed, and various NE formulae were prepared using oleic acid (OA), Tween 80 as surfactant and PEG 400 as cosurfactant, ethanol and limonene as permeation enhancers (PEs). NEs were characterized for morphology, droplet size, zeta potential and in vitro release.

Lead exposure is associated with several health hazards among workers with different individual responses. We conducted this study to determine the possible effects of lead exposure on hematological parameters and kidney function of a group of Egyptian ammunition workers and the interaction of aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD) G177C gene polymorphisms as an effect modifier. Significant differences were observed between exposed workers with ALAD1-1 and ALAD1-2 genotypes in terms of blood lead level, hematological parameters and kidney function.

A new methodology has been proposed to measure optical properties of homogeneous tissue where a laser beam is used to induce heat to a tissue. The induced heat increased the temperature inside the tissue, which is detected by a thermocouple. These readings are compared with that obtained from the solution of the finite element solution that used iterative values of optical properties in determining temperature distribution.
