Methods: Articles from randomized-controlled trials were identified by a literature search on PubMed and Cochrane. We included relevant trials involving patients with burn.

Radiomics for differentiation of somatic mutation on CT scans of patients with pleural mesothelioma.

Purpose: The BRCA1-associated protein 1 () gene is of great interest because somatic () mutations are the most common alteration associated with pleural mesothelioma (PM). Further, germline mutation of the gene has been linked to the development of PM. This study aimed to explore the potential of radiomics on computed tomography scans to identify somatic gene mutations and assess the feasibility of radiomics in future research in identifying germline mutations.

Twisted Gut, Stricken Liver: A Case of Ischemic Hepatitis From Caecal Volvulus.

Caecal volvulus, accounting for a significant proportion of colonic volvulus cases, involves the axial twisting of the mobile caecum. While ischemic hepatitis is conventionally associated with specific etiologies, reports linking it to caecal volvulus are scarce. This case report describes a noteworthy presentation of ischemic hepatitis triggered by caecal volvulus in an elderly woman of 80 years who presented with acute epigastric pain and laboratory evidence of acute liver injury, prompting imaging studies that unveiled features suggestive of caecal volvulus.

Purpose: This study uses eye tracking to investigate how varying fellow eye (FE) contrast during dichoptic video viewing influences eye movement patterns, and their associations with interocular suppression, visual acuity, and stereoacuity deficit in amblyopia.

Methods: Eye movements of 27 amblyopic and 8 healthy control participants were recorded during dichoptic viewing of stationary dots and videos with FE contrasts (100%, 50%, 25%, and 10%). Analysis included durations the amblyopic and FE spent in different stimulus regions, fixation switches, and eye deviation, and correlating these with suppression, visual acuity, and stereoacuity.

Despite breakthroughs in our understanding of lung cancer risk, development, immunologic control, and therapy choices, it remains one of the leading causes of cancer mortality. This study aimed to investigate the role of TRIM34 upon treatment of Interferon Gamma (IFN-γ) in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). NCI-H23 cells were exposed to IFN-γ in a dose- and time-dependent manner to understand TRIM34 expression and its role as a co-regulator of treatment.

PrP turnover in vivo and the time to effect of prion disease therapeutics.

PrP lowering is effective against prion disease in animal models and is being tested clinically. Therapies in the current pipeline lower PrP production, leaving pre-existing PrP to be cleared according to its own half-life. We hypothesized that PrP's half-life may be a rate-limiting factor for the time to effect of PrP-lowering drugs, and one reason why late treatment of prion-infected mice is not as effective as early treatment.

Assessing Changes in Motor Function and Mobility in Individuals with Parkinson's Disease After 12 Sessions of Patient-Specific Adaptive Dynamic Cycling.

Background And Purpose: This pilot randomized controlled trial evaluated the effects of 12 sessions of patient-specific adaptive dynamic cycling (PSADC) versus non-adaptive cycling (NA) on motor function and mobility in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD), using inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors for objective assessment.

Methods: Twenty-three participants with PD (13 in the PSADC group and 10 in the NA group) completed the study over a 4-week period. Motor function was measured using the Kinesia™ sensors and the MDS-UPDRS Motor III, while mobility was assessed with the TUG test using OPAL IMU sensors.

Biogeochemical cycling of iodine in the Bay of Bengal: A comparison with the Arabian Sea.

Iodine is a redox-sensitive element and a potential oxidant for the respiration of organic matter. Here we report the spatial variation of dissolved iodine in the Bay of Bengal (BoB) oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) and compare it with that of the Arabian Sea (AS). Subsurface iodide peaks were observed in the upper boundary of the OMZ, representing 20 to 70 % of the total iodine budget in the BoB.
