Posttransplant cyclophosphamide (PtCy) has been shown to decrease post-hematopoietic stem cell transplant acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). In this study, PtCy was used in 44 patients along with mycophenolate and tacrolimus with HLA matched (29) and mismatched (15) unrelated donors to determine the impact of graft content on outcome; thus, all patients had flow cytometric analysis of their graft content including the number of B cells, NK cells, and various T cell subsets. Higher γδ T cell dose was associated with the development of acute GVHD (p = .

Article Synopsis
  • - Previous studies have indicated that race and socioeconomic status (SES) may negatively influence outcomes after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), particularly affecting minority and disadvantaged groups, but findings have varied due to numerous confounding factors.
  • - This research focused on haploidentical (HI) HSCT and aimed to analyze how race and SES impact outcomes, like relapse and overall survival, controlling for medical factors and using a consistent treatment protocol among a diverse cohort of 239 patients.
  • - Results revealed that minority patients were more likely to experience complications like cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation, which correlated with higher rates of relapse and mortality, highlighting the need to address these disparities in transplant outcomes.
