[Risk assessment of health disorders and quality of life in employees of modern polyvinyl chloride production].

The authors analyse changes in exposure load and associated occupational risk, health state of workers engaged into contemporary polyvinyl chloride production. Consideration covered objective parameters--results of thorough medical examinations -and subjective ones--results of quantitative risk evaluation of general pathologic syndromes and life quality caused by health state. The latter were compared with general working population unexposed to the hazards.

[Occupational neurointoxications: patterns and mechanisms of formation].

The article covers results of long-standing study of clinical features of occupational neurointoxications in late period, and mechanisms underlying nervous system disorders in individuals working under long exposure to neurotoxic chemicals and in late period of occupational intoxications. With modern neurophysiologic, neuropsychologic, immunologic and biochemical diagnostic methods, the authors specified early manifestations of occupational disorders. Translation patterns of neurointoxications are specified.

[Problems of improving the assessment of health risk for assurance of the sanitary and epidemiological well-being].

There are considered the current problems of improving population health risk assessment for assurance of the sanitary and epidemiological well-being. Their solution permit to improve the risk assessment methodology in Russia and overcome unnecessary barriers in the way of a practical application of the criteria of acceptable risk and damage to health to support management decisions.

The article covers results of long-standing research on clinical peculiarities and course of toxic encephalopathy in distant period of occupational neurointoxications, on main concepts and pathogenetic steps of formation and progress of toxic encephalopathy. Through investigation covered firemen after exposure to complex of toxic chemicals and patients in post-contact period of chronic mercury intoxication. Modelling of chronic inhalation of metallic mercury vapors was performed.

[Prenosological diagnosis of the upper airway mucosa].

The paper analyzes the results of microbiological, immunological, and cytological studies of the upper airway in apparently healthy individuals exposed to toxic agents. The upper airway endoenvironmental changes have been found at the prenosological level, which may lead to the development of clinical pathology. The informative indicators of prenosological diagnosis have been determined, which make it possible to detect early changes in microbiocenoses, the body's resistance, and mucosal cytological status.

Evaluating occupational health risk in workers engaged into chemical industry. The authors evaluated long-term dynamics of air pollution with toxic chemicals at chemical enterprises producing caustic soda, vinylchloride and polyvinylchloride. Peculiarities of the work conditions were revealed.

The authors present results of testing the method of occupational risk evaluation exemplified by workers of major enterprises of East Siberia and Far North. The article proves that complex evaluation of main pathologic syndromes risk with social and psychologic characteristics consideration should be included into criteria of occupational risk evaluation.

The article deals with materials on parameters of health and functional cardiovascular resources, some psychophysiologic functions, social and psychologic characteristics in young workers of aircraft-construction plant and in potential workers - technical school and college students. The authors evaluate efficiency of occupational adaptation of the youth.

[Musculoskeletal impairment in workers engaged in mining industry of Northern regions].

Analyzing values of transitory disablement morbidity for workers engaged into mining enterprises of East Siberia and Asiatic Far North, the authors revealed high prevalence of locomotory disorders among inside workers. The authors specified diagnostic criteria for occupational etiology of those disorders, presented arguments against considering cervical and lumbar pains as occupational diseases.

[Health of workers engaged into mining industry in Siberia and Far North].

Based on longstanding analysis of transitory disablement morbidity among workers engaged into mining industry of Siberia and Far North, the authors defined factors and conditions contributing to health deterioration among these workers. These factors and conditions are severe climate conditions, long exposure to hazards, bad health care, ineffective methods of treatment and prophylaxis.

The article covers topics of evaluating the risk caused by biotechnologic products action both isolated and combined with chemical factor. The biotechnologic products under study were complete proteous preparations and microorganisms producers of nutritive supplements. The authors revealed peculiarities and patterns of body response to biotechnologic synthetic products.
