Background: Transurethral resection of the prostate is the most common procedure for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Although effective, transurethral resection of the prostate can be associated with side effects including prolonged recovery, storage and voiding symptoms, risk of acute urinary retention.
Objectives: In this study, we describe a new minimally invasive device for the treatment of lower urinary track symptoms due to BPH, implanting a nitinol C shape ring in a circular incision in the prostatic tissue, surrounding the urethra, done by electrocuting blade over a dilatation balloon.
Objectives: To report the long-term outcome of patients with Stage T1 high-grade transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder treated initially by transurethral resection and adjuvant intravesical bacille Calmette-Guérin.
Methods: From June 1984 to November 1995, 78 consecutive patients with Stage T1 high-grade bladder cancer underwent transurethral resection and adjuvant intravesical bacille Calmette-Guérin therapy. The results at the interim follow-up (median 56 months) were reported in 1998.
Purpose: We assessed the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for large (more than 10 mm) ureteral calculi with the unmodified Dornier HM3 lithotriptor.
Materials And Methods: A total of 96 consecutive patients with large ureteral stones were treated with shock wave lithotripsy using an unmodified HM3 lithotriptor. Patients, stone characteristics, preliminary treatment before shock wave lithotripsy, additional procedures after shock wave lithotripsy, complications and clinical outcomes were assessed.
