Background: For improving the human ovarian tissue culture, this study was designed to assess the incidence of apoptosis in this tissue following vitrification and culture in the presence of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) as an anti-apoptotic factor.

Methods: After collecting the ovarian tissue samples they were divided into non-vitrified and vitrified groups and cultured for 14 days in the presence and absence of LIF then morphological, ultrastructural and steroidogenesis studies, TUNEL and caspase-3/7 assays, and apoptosis analysis by real time RT-PCR were done in all groups. Objective: We evaluated structural and functional changes of fresh and frozen-thawed adult mouse spermatogonial stem cells following auto-transplantation into gamma-irradiated testes.

Materials And Methods: In this experimental research, the right testes from adult mice (n=25) were collected, then Sertoli and spermatogonial cells were isolated using two-step enzymatic digestion, lectin immobilization and differential plating. Three weeks after cultivation, the Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)-labeled spermatogonial cells were transplanted, via rete testis, into the other testis of the same mouse, which had been irradiated with 14Gy.

Multiple sclerosis frequently affects the optic apparatus, particularly optic chiasm and nerves. Here, we have reported the structural and molecular characteristics of remyelination in the adult rat optic chiasm and nerves. Moreover, considering the proximity of optic chiasm and 3rd ventricle, we have tried to determine if proliferating cells residing in 3rd ventricle region are able to migrate in response to experimental demyelination of the optic chiasm.

Background: Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) establishes a lifelong latent infection in neurons following primary infection. The existence of latent HSV-1 DNA in the trigeminal ganglia of infected BALB/c mice was examined using a direct in situ PCR technique, based on Digoxigenin-11-dUTP detection system with anti-digoxigenin-peroxidase and 3,3'-diaminobenzidine (DAB) substrate.
